Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

Just listening to the Slap Schotts podcast from earlier today and Ken confirmed that the penalty minutes will be displayed on the old scoreboard above the old stage area where they keep track of shots on goal. I think it'll be interesting to see how that works out.

I have a feeling they will be 1:57 RPI penalties and 2:04 Clarkson penalties. :P

Congrats Ralph....May you have a long and healthy retirement !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

Ralph, congrats on your retirement. I hope it is long and healthy. Now, you can spend more time on the board. Any truth to the rumor that Laliberte came to the luncheon :D

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

Some interesting notes on next years schedule from the Ed Weaver chat tonight. One RPI/Union game in Lake Placid, two game home set with Mankato to open up the season, two games at Ferris St. and only one game at Notre Dame which I think is a little odd.

So, if our tournament is still on...
2 v Colorado College
2 v Minnesota State
2 @ Ferris State
2 - UConn Classic (UML and AHA team)
2 - RPI Tourney (unknown)
1 @ Notre Dame
1 @ LP v UC

Agreed, redhead. Very odd.

You're right. Somehow I forgot about the game against RIT. Hopefully we fit in a Hockey East team for that 34th game.

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

After looking at the Notre Dame schedule this year, I see both Boston College and Canisius both played single games out in South Bend. So I guess its possible RPI could only be playing one game out there.

I thought I remember reading on WaP's twitter that there could possibly be a game at Niagara as well, Im guessing it would be the same weekend as the game at RIT. Kinda makes for an unbalanced schedule with more away games then home games though.

We just completed the home-and-home series against Niagara. I doubt that Appert would be too excited about going back to Dwyer. But that's just a personal statement / guess, not a cold, hard fact.

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

OK. Who told RPI that I just retired? Fess up. :D

I just received a letter stating that I will receive a phone call in the next few days telling me how I can plan my estate to benefit the 'Tute.

BTW, my official retirement luncheon is today. It didn't make sense to schedule it last week when many people were out of town.

HAAAAA.. that is funny. Although, I thought you were gonna tell us that RPI called to tell you they were retiring your number. :D Congrats on the retirement...should leave plenty of time for long bike excursions. I hope the Rolex fits. :D

Congrats, Ralph! Looking forward to your insight on an even more consistent basis (if that's possible) :)

Thanks for all of the retirement wishes.

It wouldn't surprise me if Ed Weaver got it wrong and we are only playing one game at Ferris as posted here earlier.

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

I was just killing time this morning and came up with this mock schedule for next season, theres only 33 games listed so I need to add one more eventually. So if the information we got from Weaver during the chat last night is correct, it could look something like this:

10/1 Exhibition
10/7 Minnesota St. Mankato
10/8 Minnesota St. Mankato
10/15 vs Union @ Lake Placid
10/22 @ Notre Dame
10/28 Colorado College
10/29 Colorado College
11/4 @ Clarkson*
11/5 @ St. Lawrence*
11/11 Brown*
11/12 Yale*
11/26 @ RIT
12/2 @ Princeton*
12/3 @ Quinnipiac*
12/9 Union*
12/10 @ Union*
12/30 vs Lowell @ UConn Classic
12/31 vs UConn/Army @ UConn Classic
1/6 Dartmouth*
1/7 Harvard*
1/13 @ Ferris St.
1/14 @ Ferris St.
1/20 @ Yale*
1/21 @ Brown*
1/27 St. Lawrence*
1/28 Clarkson*
2/3 Cornell*
2/4 Colgate*
2/10 @ Harvard*
2/11 @ Dartmouth*
2/17 Quinnipiac*
2/18 Princeton*
2/24 @ Colgate*
2/25 @ Cornell*

Great work. However, it's doubtful that the Union games would be held this weekend. It would be great for us. But, Union, with their trimester schedule, would be on break or be in finals. And, they wouldn't want their rivalry game played without their students.
