whippin two legends Parker and Big Red back ta back, good job Seth. You got my attention.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

'grats on the win guys, hopefully we can get another one for the conference out west this weekend. Best of luck against Sparty.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

Not a game for weak nerves. I'm glad we came out on top. To many penelties for my liking. Sounded like Kennedy was trying a little to hard to impress his family. I'm glad York's slump is over. What a comeback.
I think we will see a more competitive game tonight, because the nerves will have settled down, plus we won the first game, which should give them confidence. I hope Helfrich is ok, and he will be able to play tonight.
GreatLakerMohawk- What are your opinions on our penelties? How did Bergin look?

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

It was absolutely fun to watch this RPI team tonight. This is a team on the move and I predict a national presence quite soon.

Where are your seats GLM?

We're all seated in 110 - if you're there, do stop by it'd be a pleasure to meet you.

Penalties were exceedingly weak against RPI especially in the third. The penalties that lead to the 5x3 for Michigan I can assure you that Kerins "kneeing" penalty was garbage as he threw a hip check and knocked the guy down in open ice. Whatever Halpern did I didn't see happen - the trailing official made the call and Halpern protested it pretty well considering, I can only assume that the penalty fell heavily into the gray area.

The third period officiating was as slanted and awful as I've ever personally witnessed and some of the other folks compared it to the rogering RPI got at the Icebreaker against Minnesota a year or two ago. The bogus calls against Kerins and Halpern on top of an obviously blown offside call in waning seconds that allowed Michigan one more chance to make a play were infuriating. Michigan was allowed to grab on to RPI players at will that tried to go around the boards in the zone and hang on to them.

The ability to withstand the USSR brand of attempted fixing of the game and to bounce back after giving up the lead says a lot about this team.

I am definitely no Michigan fan but I disagree with these remarks completely. The double minor was weak and maybe a couple of the others but overall these players did what they were accused of. Michigan also got called for a couple of weak ones and RPI made them pay for it.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

I just peeked at the officiating crew that worked last night's game. I've seen all four of these guys in Adrian before. Stephen McInchak is among the worst referees in the collegiate game. He screwed up the BG-UNO shootout fiasco, so the CCHA sent him to work a D-III game in Adrian earlier this season, and butchered that one almost as badly. Pochmara is usually a good referee, so I don't know what happened there. As for the two linesmen, I'm not impressed there, either. I've seen Bruce Vida work a few games as a referee, and he seems like a Little Napoleon with a whistle, and Mike Elder is bug-eyed clueless idiot who looks like a lost puppy on the ice.

Trust me, Michigan isn't exactly enthralled with this group of clowns either. Glad to see the CCHA send the D crew to the GLI.

You must not read RPI threads very often. Complaining about the officiating is a consistent, relentless obsession. It's just less common when RPI wins.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

RPI in addition to a big win for them also helped the ECAC save some face yesterday in what was otherwise a pretty dismal showing for the league in tournament play. :(

Is there any fan base that doesn't complain about the officiating?

Fixed your post. :D

Quality, gutty, ugly win by RPI! Nice job by the boys! Knowing Tyler, unless the X-ray showed shrapnel, he will jam his hoof into the skate and play...just a hunch. I wish I could have seen Yorkie work his magic, sounds like he stoned them for most of the night.

RPI faces a more confidence and complete team tonight, we best be ready. GO RED !

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

Jerry got very little ice time though compared to some of the "stars" despite being on what I can only assume to be the second line. he looked kind of lackluster out there but he still had some nice passes...
I'll again remind you that his knee is still not 100%..Eventually the law of averages states it might sink in.

I saw Jerry's set up of one of the goals and it was a great pass from along the boards. If his "lackluster" nights equate to a measely two points, I am more than OK with that.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

TimV, I'm sure you were at the game and watched the whole thing, right? Then shut up.

Two of Kennedy's penalties were completely bogus, especially the last one. I'm not sure how you can get called for boarding when you're STANDING directly next to the guy before you put him into the boards. He didn't even have one stride let alone two. It was a solid check on a guy who had his head down and the referee called a penalty because it made a lot of noise.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

Hi everyone...I listened to the game last night and was kept completely on edge. It was a great win and sounds like we played some unbelievable defense to come out on top...kudos to all of the guys!

I've been surfing on and off all morning reading all of the recaps and found an article accompanied by a photo gallery of yesterdays action on the Detroit Free Press site. I thought I'd share...enjoy! Beat STATE!

Absolutely f-cking phenomenal result tonight. Silencing a Joe crowd the way we did tonight was glorious.

There were good vibes all around in the building tonight as Mike Dark stopped by our section after the first period to say hello and chit chat.

Phenomenal night and now we're playing with house money.

Mike Dark and his ex-defense partner are two of the best guys to come through the hockey program at RPI. Top notch people.
