IIHF HHOF Images on IceD'Amigo Named Top Performer in U.S. Victory
SASKATOON, Sask. -- Rensselaer forward Jerry D’Amigo scored two goals, added one assist, compiled a plus-3 ratio, and was selected U.S. Player of the Game in the Americans’ 7-3 victory over Slovakia at the 2010 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship. Team USA overcame an early two-goal deficit in its first game at the opening round of the championship.

D'Amigo netted his first goal at five minutes, 39 seconds of the second period to give Team USA a 3-2 lead. He notched his second goal and completed the night's scoring on a give-and-go play with Danny Kristo. D'Amigo assisted on Kristo's second-period goal to account for his three-point evening.

I wish we could have him Tuesday.

Was he given back the goal that gave the US the 3-2 lead?

The official box score says no. The western folks watching the game on a Slovakian stream say it was definitely Stepan on the 3rd goal.

D'Amigo definitely gets goal 7, and was +4 on the night.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

D'Amigo got nothing in the shutout against Switzerland. Well, except for a picture on the IIHF website. So, almost nothing. At least he's representing well, I'm sure he had quite a few good puck battles there.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

Good game this afternoon Jerry looked good. The US team looked pretty good for practicing with each other for a short period. Fun game to watch. They played well.

He had a really nice pass in the middle of the 3rd period that nearly set up a goal. He wasn't all that good today and was visibly tired in the 2nd and 3rd periods (moreso than his teammates).

Also a picture on the USCHO front page now.

I'm surprised the GLI thread is so quiet. I can't wait for tomorrows game. Do we know if Bergin is in line up?

I have heard nothing about Bergin, or Lee for that matter. Ed Weaver's blog http://recordhockey.blogspot.com/ mentions that the team is in the Detroit area since yesterday, so probably some kind of decision has been made. (Actually, they may have been in Windsor on Saturday, since Weaver wrote yesterday what they had already done on Sunday night which makes no sense.)

Re the GLI thread: you can certainly wake it up again. :)

Not at all surprising given he is rehabbing a knee.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

A nice article by Ed Weaver about RPI going to the GLI http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/2009/12/26/sports/doc4b35a088c3c8b512676126.txt.

I could have sworn, however, that the GLI was also played in December 1985 at the JLA, so this isn't RPI's first visit since the NCAA tourney in 1985. Well, he was only off by a few months. :D

While checking old Intercollegiate Hockey Newsletters before posting this, I was reminded that Mark Jooris had five goals and two assists vs. Michigan in the opening round. I hope that someone can duplicate that. :)

Absolutely correct Ralph. Jooris is the sole holder of the single-game points record for the GLI.

Re: RPI III: Revenge of the Seth

Last year, while becoming frustrated that all of our scoring was coming from younger players and awaiting the arrival or D'Amigo and Pirri, I coped by creating a spreadsheet of scoring by class so that I could yell at it. I figure that the success of this year combined with the current lull in activity makes it a good time to share.

To account for class size differences I divided points by games played to get an average PPG per capita for each class. I am aware that this does not account for differences in distribution by position. For instance, this year's senior class is heavy in defensemen. I did not include goaltenders in games played or points. I also have included stats for this year. For both years I included the exhibition game. For me, the most surprising result is that while I felt the sophomore class seemed to be in a collective slump, their PPG has actually gone up 0.112. Also Paul Kerins is on pace to score 7 more points this year than his entire class did all of last year.
