and Shane Bear, although, of course, he did not start at RPI.

Perhaps they meant Will is the only senior defenseman who plays regularly.

I should have mentioned him as well; thank you, Ralph. I know that the team doesn't send out much information on who is injured and who is not, but I assume that Bear has been a healthy scratch for most of the season. The younger players are talented, but I was a little surprised about that given his role last year and being one of the assistant captains.

Re: RPI Hockey 2019 - 2020 Part II: Moving on with 2020 Vision!

It's the annual fund the team time. They want FitBits. https://impact.rpi.edu/project/4733

I'm probably alone in thinking this, but I think its kind of sad that a team from a supposed technology school need to crowdfund for fibits....something sadly ironic.... I would think/hope that the school might have some connections in the tech industry that could provide these at a greatly reduced cost, if not gratis. And yes, I am sure that there are 93 different NCAA rules prohibiting this, but I guess more than anything its the online begging that I'm not a fan of.

Each RPI team is begging for something. See https://impact.rpi.edu/g/letsgored. It probably makes more sense for the D-III teams, but they can't leave out the two hockey teams. It's interesting that the cross country team already surpassed its goal.

Re: RPI Hockey 2019 - 2020 Part II: Moving on with 2020 Vision!

Was treated as a Senior during Senior night, and they prepared a plaque for him like the others.

I wouldn't really read into that. He's a senior, why wouldn't he be treated as such on Senior Night? He probably doesn't know yet whether or not he's coming back

Surely possible he returns, and I would like to see that. Just seems awkward to go through a Senior night celebration when there is a possibility of a return. Tempting to read into it; couldn't he have classified himself as a red-shirt junior?

Re: RPI Hockey 2019 - 2020 Part II: Moving on with 2020 Vision!

Really over the top that we had two players, Savory and Burgess, honored in their positions as ECAC players of the month!!!!!Now if we can have that for the Month of March, that would be really special;)

Interesting article. They note Reilly's decision to stay and Hayhurst decision to leave. They leave out Samec and Baer as Sr defensemen and also Polino who could have left as a graduate transfer but choose to stay. The press is good for the team but they should give all of the pertinent facts IMO. Samec has played a large role with this team through his 4 years and does a lot in the community.

Re: RPI Hockey 2019 - 2020 Part II: Moving on with 2020 Vision!

I usually post links separately. Only on rare occasions do I do it that way which is the way most people link. That is because I am red-green colorblind and usually can't see the links myself. However I thought that for those who are not "handicapped" those links stand out. Don't they?

Ralph, in your original post # 937 the words "this link" did not stand out. Usually such links do stand out for me, but in this case they did not.

After Dr. D clued me in on how to follow the link, I read the article. Interesting to note that just a couple of lines below the fictitious Plainfield State Teachers score appeared the score of that year's (1941) RPI - Union game, which RPI won, 32-0.

It remains to this day the largest margin of victory by which RPI has ever beaten Union in a football game.

I have no idea what I did wrong with the link.
An RPI 32-0 win may also be fictitious. :)

Let's try it again: This is a link.

We can say what we will about THe Dutchmen, but they have been a football nemesis for longer than even i have been alive. They have had a few dry spells and we have had a couple of runs of wins, but not only have they beaten us more than anyone else, they have often beaten us when something important was on the line like a bid to the post season.
