RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

With less than a week until our next game, I thought it would be a good idea to get this back to the top.
With the student body on break, does the team get to spend more time in Ohio getting ready for this weekends games?

NCAA rules have some fairly strict regulations on when you may travel relative to game time in the lower 48 (obviously Alaska is a special case, given some WCHA teams do two straight weekends there and, IIRC, stay over), so I would imagine the answer is no, despite classes not presently happening for us.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

I recall during the offseason, there were some concerns about how much the promotional division of hockey operations has been advertising RPI hockey. Has there been any remedy in this as of late? The reason I ask is, after buying tickets online for the Shillelagh tournament, I seem to receive at least two e-mails a week about Notre Dame hockey, even if it's just a player profile. I would think that doing something like that throughout the entire year and getting people excited about the team would result in higher attendance. A half full HFH is just depressing, compared to the 2010-11 season when we seemed to be regularly getting 3500, even 4000 people.

No, there hasn't been any emails from the HFH recently. I'm a season ticket holder and would have thought that I would hear something once in a while. The last time I heard from them was the teddy bear toss promotion for the Arizona St game. Of course, we haven't had a game since then and our next home game isn't until 1/15. I'm hoping since all our remaining home games are against ECAC opponents, that attendance will pick up down the stretch.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

One of our rival ECAC teams had a tad of trouble last night in the finals of a tournament. After taking out Providence and making the ECAC look like world beaters, Cornell just did not seem to be able to handle the #42 team in the country very well.;) Losing to that low a ranked team is one thing but by that score?:eek:

Ed Weaver article about Miami trip. The team is going directly to Princeton from Oxford, Ohio. (or rather via Pittsburgh.)

Probably the most sensible way to handle this set of games. For many years we have watched how Princeton tries to take advantage early in games when a team comes in to play them just hours before puck drop. The place is freezing and it takes time to warm up. I can still remember how they had the visiting team walk out to the ice over concrete instead of a rubber mat just to help insure some skates were a bit dull. I have not seen them employ that little trick for a while and if they did, it most certainly did not work last night on QU who came out flying and scored 4 so quickly that we were still standing and walking to our seats.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

Ok maybe someone can explain this and eliminate my confusion. Why is Vermont not playing Brown in the finals of the Catamount Cup?

Yesterday's Results:

Colgate 5
Brown 7

Lake Superior 0
Vermont 1

Vermont wanted set opponents for their tournament. Doesn't always happen, but it also happened in the icebreaker this year.

I'm afraid I must report that I will be attending this weekend's games at Miami, which means we are most likely doomed. Sorry.

Seeing as this is a new year and a fresh start for everyone, bring a new positive attitude to these games. Anything can happen. :)
Think happy thoughts. :D

Could you make a giant Crossword puzzle and hold it up behind Kasdorf/Hackett every period so the Miami players are trying to solve it instead of trying to score? :D

This is not for the Red & White Belt, seeing as how we lost it last year, yes?
