This team just doesn`t seem to have enough guys that hate to lose.
Or they think a one goal lead in the third is safe.

Who would ever think that?![]()
Exactly my point.
Seeing how the coach constantly says he wants to be a great defensive team, as well as calling out seniors in the papers a couple of weeks back for "cheating for offense", no wonder they sit on the lead. They don't want to feel the wrath of the dreaded "coaches decision"![]()
again, the team's putrid discipline bites them in the behind. They seem to play scared and uneven. The upside is they always seem to do damage when on the road in the playoffs. Maybe our hopes can be falsely raised again? I'll take it!
Spot on Doc. I was trying to come up with one thing (just ONE) that this “team" does well.....I can’t. As I told Ralph in an email after the 1st Bentley loss, “this may be the worst 'team' I’ve seen in my 9 years of watching RPI hockey”. I stress team not individual play. Props though to the RPI ACHA team as they’re in their 1st Regionals. They take on UNH this afternoon..... http://achahockey.union.rpi.edu/home/Every9one is pretty much saying the same thing. But i would call our style of play simply tentative. Whether we get a lead or not, we never seem to play with any sort of desperation. We are playing just well enough to lose and you can never play any sport not to lose, you have to play to win. Outscored all season, outshot all season, penalized far more than opponents all season, losing most face offs all season, special teams outplayed all season. You do not have to be a chemistry major to see what that formula gives rise to.

Your last sentence is even sadder. If RPI, by some miracle, makes it to the ECAC semis, you know SAJ is going to dangle a six-year extension so we have to put up with more of this atrocity. It's really sad when you consider wanting to see your team not win for that reason.![]()
Shocked and saddened we did t pull kasdorf and go for win in ot
I Posted SA’s short reply to that question in yesterday’s gamethread. I’ll Post it here....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfXSrO4bjqI&feature=youtu.beIn the Troy Record, Appert said he thought about doing it.
I think SA made the sensible decision. Given the fact that our success level when we pull the goalie is not sterling, we were looking at a low percentage choice. Much more likely would have been an empty net goal and the chance of slipping further in the standings. Finishing 9th is no bargain. But it has the potential to be important if we can upset #8 in the first round and either #10, #11, or #12 can also pull a surprise. It could even as a long shot give us a slightly better draw in the next round. Surprises do happen, just look back at the 1995 ECAC final four when we were seated #6 and got to play Princeton in the final at Lake Placid.I Posted SA’s short reply to that question in yesterday’s gamethread.
