RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Appert confirmed Arizona State at the alumni gathering prior to the Cornell game. I don't know if it's one or two games, but if Union isn't going to play them, then I would assume it'd be two. Question is, though: Is Arizona State going to be considered D-I Independent, thereby making these NC games, or will these be considered Exhibition?

I think that they will play enough D-I games to count.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Michigan is a definite. The deal was that we would go to Michigan for 2 this year; Michigan would play one at RPI and one at Union next year; and Union would go to Ann Arbor in 16-17. Michigan thus gets 2 for 1 against both CD teams.

That's my understanding as well, Ralph. UCONN at home also makes sense. I can't imagine that the AZ St. games would be exhibition contests. Since they are playing a hybrid schedule, they must be playing enough varisty games for them to be considered NC contests.

I know they're doing two years worth of hybrid before joining a conference in 2017, hence why I asked.

I didn't see anything of the sort laid out on the tables at the alumni game, which is when I would usually see it.

I guess that they either forgot about it or didn't feel it was close enough to being complete.

Or they just aren't willing to release it. Which is a little weird, given Appert did talk about it. Supposedly WaP is putting a preliminary schedule on their site at some point this week.

Thread title suggestion

RPI 2015 Hockey Offseason Thread: The Off Season after an Off Season

;)

Funny, but unfortunately, a more appropriate version is:

RPI 2015 Hockey Offseason Thread: The Off Season after another Off Season.

Also, I know it's just regular hockey talk but all the discussion of next year's schedule seems especially poignant.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Many who have posted during the season have dropped out of sight, [perhaps] an indication that the program is losing loyal long-time fans who seem to have given up on the team and the program. Sad to see, but understandable.

The program has not lost this fan, nor has this fan given up on the team nor the program. There is a different reason for me not to post here very often, no sense in belaboring that reason any further. :(

It certainly gives some point as to preparedness time. I still stand by the reasoning we did so well in 2012-13 is because of what seemed to be deliberate gaps in our schedule. Year after year, we seem to have issues with conditioning, and as much as man power contributes, schedule is one of the blatant factors we can see. How many times this year did we have to play more than two games in a "week"?

I suspect that WaP is mainly going to discuss whom we are playing. He may try to fill in the dates working around the known dates, but if he knows much with certainty besides for the ECAC schedule minus Union, he's probably sworn to secrecy. This was last year's post http://www.withoutapeer.com/2014/03/whos-next.html. Looking at that posts, many of his guesses were wrong. I think that he will do better this year.

I think there are many other RPI fans who will reboot over the summer and be back as enthusiastic as ever come September. It is just a sad situation that most of the past dozen years have been so disappointing. With such a long run of futility, you have to look beyond the coach and AD and wonder if anyone above them cares about the program and its loyal fans.

I thought this statistic from Without a Peer reinforced everything we need to know about this team right now:

Allowing less than three goals, RPI is now 9-0-2. Allowing three or more, they're 0-23-0.

Talk about all or nothing!

Add me to this also. I am still the same fanatic about RPI hockey that I have been for the past 50+ years. i will always be supportive of the boys playing and the team. I just have problems with several other aspects of the program. But we recruit great kids who are great examples of student athletes and they deserve our total support.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

I guess it is a sign of how far the RPI program has fallen when a week before the playoffs this thread is near the bottom of page two on the forum, well behind the recruit thread and whatever the click to click thread is.

Many who have posted during the season have dropped out of sight, an indication that the program is losing loyal long-time fans who seem to have given up on the team and the program. Sad to see, but understandable. Let's get some positive vibes flowing and hope that it helps get the boys back on track and building some momentum for the playoffs and next season.
LGR!

I think there other factors that have driven people away from the thread, the constant sniping on small things kills wanting to join the fray. I know there are some disappointments this year but injuries have been a big part of it. I'm assuming none of us thought we were going to be a scoring machine with the subtraction of Zalweski and Haggs. There have been bright points for me and the weekend sweep of the National Champions and our main rival (not Clarkson) was sweet. Kazzie was more like Kazzie this weekend after slumping a little. I think he can put it together here late and he and the boys could steal a series or two.

Interesting that they penciled the Michigan game.
