RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Not sure if they're going to give us an even return trip, given we've already played them for three years, but it's possible.

Perhaps it's time I should get that spreadsheet going. ;)

We will seeep and onion beats tech next weekend
Scotty d gets start senior night hopefully

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

According to my sim, 5.6% of home ice next weekend. If we are at home, we'll face Clarkson.

IF we take 4 points and Clarkson takes 1 or fewer points, we'll be at home.
IF we take 3 points (beat Clarkson, tie SLU), and Clarkson takes no points, it'll go to the top 4 tiebreaker. Based on the current top 4, we lose that 7-1 (from the hypothetical tie vs. SLU). There may be a way for us to win that tiebreak, but it seems unlikely.
IF we take 3 points (tie Clarkson, beat SLU), we'll be on the road.
IF we take 2 or fewer points, we'll be on the road.

If Cornell catapults themselves up to the top 4, we may have a shot. Top 8 doesn't look good, though.

You're right. If the top 4 are Quinnipiac, SLU, Colgate, and Cornell, we win the top 4 tiebreak 6-5.

Thanks to all for their work on the stats. I find them very interesting even when i am not sure I understand them. But in the past 8 years (the SA era) I think we are 9-17 in ECAC playoff games regardless of whether we get home ice or not and those numbers do not look promising. Just the fact that we have only played 26 playoff games in 8 years speaks volumes.

We didn't win any playoff games in 04-05 and 05-06, either. Hope I'm not the jinx.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

What a revolting development this is.

I guess it is a sign of how far the RPI program has fallen when a week before the playoffs this thread is near the bottom of page two on the forum, well behind the recruit thread and whatever the click to click thread is.

Many who have posted during the season have dropped out of sight, an indication that the program is losing loyal long-time fans who seem to have given up on the team and the program. Sad to see, but understandable. Let's get some positive vibes flowing and hope that it helps get the boys back on track and building some momentum for the playoffs and next season.
LGR!

I advertised at the beginning of the season!

In my first few weeks of participation, I thought it was "Click to Pick", as in you would click on players in order to pick them to succeed.

Wish there was more to talk about. :(

Any other musings on next year's schedule? I did pencil in a Mayor's Cup game, also games vs. Michigan and Arizona State, not to mention all of our league games.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

IMO it is long past time to stop screwing up the ECAC schedule for Harvard and the Beanpot. It makes a bit of a mess of the balance of the league schedule and it has not helped Harvard. I think their record in the Beanpot since their last title in 1993 is 12-32. Harvard doesn't like playing the two Beanpot games between league weekends. However, if you look at their schedule they played a Tuesday night game @ BC between two sets of league games in November. That was also during a stretch in which they played 9 games in 19 days. This schedule adjustment almost always involves RPI and Union, has had no positive impact on Harvard's performance in the Beanpot and makes no sense, since they are willing to play mid-week games earlier in the league schedule. If their really is a legitimate concern about fatigue and injury, maybe the Ivy League should come up with a solution.

Haven't heard much yet. I know Union is close to putting there schedule together and they tentavely have some teams coming in for single nights. BU, Michigan, UNH and UConn. Maine is coming in for a pair so that wouldn't lead to them playing RPI but hopefully the others are in the CD for the whole weekend.

RPI and Union are not involved in the beanpot reschedule next year. ;)

What was nice during a couple of the years, though, is that they would leave one of the Beanpot weekends as an open weekend, possibly for part of a home/home series, thereby only "inconveniencing" one of the teams.

UConn does owe us one, so that makes sense. Perhaps we will be making a trip to Miami this year to finish off that series. Wonder if we'll also make a trip to Bentley as well, given we seem to have been doing reciprocating trips with Atlantic teams as of late. Not sure what happened with St. Cloud, if we're ever going to see a reciprocal on that.

Michigan is a definite. The deal was that we would go to Michigan for 2 this year; Michigan would play one at RPI and one at Union next year; and Union would go to Ann Arbor in 16-17. Michigan thus gets 2 for 1 against both CD teams.

Appert confirmed Arizona State at the alumni gathering prior to the Cornell game. I don't know if it's one or two games, but if Union isn't going to play them, then I would assume it'd be two. Question is, though: Is Arizona State going to be considered D-I Independent, thereby making these NC games, or will these be considered Exhibition?
