RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

I don't understand how you can healthy scratch a player that in essence leaves your roster depleted. Only 11 forwards dressed last night.

He did it a couple years ago. Basically, Appert's trying to get control of the team again.

You can if you want to send a message.

That's kind of ridiculous at this point of the year isn't it Ralph? I mean you send messages during non-league games where it doesn't cost you any points! Not fielding a full roster when healthy players are available and points are on the line is a head scratcher!!

Since I don't know what he did, I really can't comment. I do wonder why neither Hampton nor Bell dressed.

Especially when he has been using D to fill forward positions when short! I don't know if Bubela did anything, since SA's post game comment indicated that it was "a coach's decision". You would think his comment would be different if Bubela in fact did something.

April 1912 there was this ship in the North Atlantic that did not perform well on ice-they were sending messages for a couple of hours but as I have read, it did not seem to help much.;)

RPI Athletics put out a Football recruiting video. Never anything like that for hockey. And given they've been trying to get rid of Puckman for years, it's pretty obvious that the program may be on its last legs, and SAJ is trying to convert RPI into a football school.

That was not a student, but grabbing the Michigan State flag and skating around Joe Louis Arena with it was brilliant!
Correct. That guy was my boss from my work study job. And I was there in Detroit too. And I now get to skate with the starting center from that game every Friday morning. Great hands, great passer and a deadly low wrist shot. Yet he was just the "checking line" center back in '85.

Trini Iturralde? Or, is it a trick question and the answer is Tim Army?

Maybe you (or someone else) could answer my question about Swarm. The reason that they dropped the character was because the outfit scared younger children. True or not? Just what I heard.

No idea. It did have a certain drunken evil look to it. So I can see that.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015 Part II: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

The road from putting out a football recruiting video to putting a viable Division I football team on the field can be very, very long indeed.

In the late 1980's, I was working for an insurance company in Philadelphia. My office was right next to the office of one of the company's vice presidents. I knew that the VP had played football for Columbia in the late '50's or early '60's.

One day a couple of Columbia's assistant football coaches, with a video cameraman, came to visit our VP. And they filmed a clip that obviously was intended to be included in a football recruiting video.

I could overhear everything that was said and I'll tell you, our VP gave a pretty darn good performance. By the time he was done, I was thinking that if, by the time my son (who was 1 year old at the time) graduated from high school, he showed the ability to play football at the Ivy League level, I would be very happy to see him go to Columbia.

Unfortunately, neither that video nor anything else Columbia has done in the more than 25 years that have elapsed since it was filmed has resulted in any dramatic improvement in the school's football fortunes. In 2014, the Lions went 0-10, with five of those losses coming by margins of more than 40 points.

It seems he has to send a message or two almost every year. That ain't good.

I think that every coach has to send a message every now and then. Hopefully Bubela will respond as well as recruit Todd Burgess did (scoring two goals the game after apparently being a healthy scratch).

R-e-l-a-x he has a lower body Injury. I won't disclose it so clarkson and slu trolls don't read it and tell there players to target it
