I don't care what he wears, so long as he permanently misplaces his tan suit!

I am perhaps the most superstitious fan ever. Whatever he wore last weekend against Union, everything, including socks and underwear, should be worn until we lose. Just take it all off after the game, wash it, put it back on for the next game. I would like to see no changes made in the line up, the uniforms, his stance behind the bench, his hair, everything.:)

A superstitious guy like you is OK with him washing them?!

Greetings from the Collar City.

BTW, I am red-green collarblind. ;)

Fire him for what? They looked great tonight.

Yet again proving my point. Do you really think Appert told them "go out there and play sloppy defense and look like you don't even care tonight"? Do you really think a coaching change right now is going to magically make us a league or NCAA threat? You have to put a lot of the onus on the players on the ice, too, for playing with little to no heart. They proved last week they can do it. They just need to be consistent.

Whatever he told them is not working. So we should keep him and suffer through mediocrity at best for how many more years before we then start to rebuild? They have been inconsistent for 9 seasons. What evidence do you have to indicate that this might change? It is very difficult indeed for an administration to admit they were wrong. So it goes - we repeat our disappointment season after season.

I mostly agree, but complaining about it here all the time changes nothing and drives posters away from the board. So much negativity.

That just proves the Union weekend was a fluke.
Maybe not-Union just gave away a third period lead and lost in OT. Princeton beat Cornell. Quinnipiac murdering Colgate worse than we got beat. Perhaps every game this year will just depend on that individual match up. We looked horrible against Harvard and I cannot think of anything we did well. Is Harvard that good? Or did we just not have the right game plan? I agree with you though-this falls on the coach. Not for the bad loss tonight, but he now has to show that he can make whatever changes are necessary to play better tomorrow. Can he do it? Will he do it? Tune in tomorrow-same Bat Time and same Bat Channel.

Five effective shutouts. The power play was back to its typical pass pass turnover. No one wanted to shoot the puck, and the closest shot we had won't even be recorded as a shot because it hit the crossbar. Say all you want, but it's the coach's job is to motivate this team. If he can't do that, what chance do you have? Is he going to try a short bench again, like two years ago? Did Cavosie take the weekend off or something? I know he's a volunteer, but whatever he said last week seemed to work.

If we were not living in such a politically correct era, I'd be wondering how a men's college hockey team had so many teen-age girls as followers.

Before the season began, we knew going in we had a young, streaky team, with the potential for highs and lows. Yet, "OMG, we played badly, it's the end of the world....no wait, we played well, let's get all giddy and ecstatic....oh, no, they played badly again, let's hyperventilate."

Going into the Onion game, I said I saw no reason to change my pre-season pick for where we'd finish in the ECAC, and I still don't. My initial assessment is that in the long haul, we'd garner enough points to host a first-round playoff game but not enough to avoid being a road team for the second round of the playoffs. So far it looks like we may well be right on target.

Before the season started, if anyone said that after the first four ECAC games, we'd have at least 4 points and the chance to finish with 6, how many of us would have said, "good deal, we'll take it." ??

There seems to be general agreement that, given the state of today's Division I, AD&MGC is stretched a bit too thin. Maybe that's on him, maybe that's an institutional failure, who knows. It sure seems like you need two or three quality full-time assistant coaches these days to be competitive at the highest levels.

We have a streaky team, we know that. I'm surprised that, given that advance knowledge, we don't have a bit more collective maturity in responding to it. It's one thing to notice areas that need improvement and to discuss them in a rational manner, that is not at all what I'm getting at. It's the hysteria and hyperventilating extremes in [some of] our response that are just silly.

A lot of what you say makes sense but are you watching the games? Its the lack of effort and organization that is concerning. I can accept losses. I remember leaving the Fieldhouse plenty of times after a loss and thinking, wow what an effort. They really took it to them and left it all on the ice. It hasn't been that way for years! Absolutely no excuse for the effort last night.

Amen to this. There are some games where the team really is playing hard, and you just happen to run into a hot goaltender, resulting in a loss that way. That's going to happen now and again. Using the word "effort" to describe last night is being very kind.

You're right, there is no excuse.
We changed the power play system, now we pass the puck around the perimeter, but nobody takes a shot. The offense five on five looks only for the perfect play and passes up quality scoring opportunities. We can't score if we don't shoot. And shooting with a clear shot at the goalie can create some very good scoring chances from rebounds, but when do we ever get a rebound? We need to start generating shots on goal.
As for the defense last night, I just can't believe that our two biggest defensemen couldn't clear the front of the net. They scored most if not all of their goals from two feet and closer.
Very poor effort.
