Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

OK, I'll bite. Whose birthday is it?

The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute community will gather November 5, to commemorate the founding of the Institute.

November 5 is the 190th anniversary of a letter written by Institute founder Stephen Van Rensselaer announcing the formation of a new school and declaring his intent to educate students “in the application of science to the common purposes of life.” With that letter, the school that would come to be known as Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute was born.

You have some explaining to do on the second one, because I don't see how or when a college team would EVER play an NHL team. Not to mention, a national championship is the highest you can go. Where would the disappointment be in that?

You're kidding me, right? Or are you actually responding earnestly to an obvious joke?

There's a big difference between being blinded by short-term success and realizing the big picture.

And there's a big difference between being "blinded by short-term success" and allowing oneself some pleasure in this weekend's undeniably big wins.

Until then, there's no sense in working ourselves up only to come crashing down even harder.

Honestly, it's like you WANT to be miserable. Fine. Knock yourself out.

First one's understandable. Last time we scored a goal in the NCAAs, I wasn't even born yet. And we were offsides as well.

There's a big difference between being blinded by short-term success and realizing the big picture. The big picture is that we have been effectively shut out four times, three of which were to potential opponents we would see in the NCAAs. If I thought we had a serious shot at making some noise nationally, you'd hear it. Until then, there's no sense in working ourselves up only to come crashing down even harder.

Was it Hadrian who was asked how Rome would be built? I want to say that the answer was "brick by brick". Maybe it was "two league wins over a team that OWNS (OWNED?) you. In any event, I say good going Red!

Welcome, uncledave on your first post. From the Buddy Powers days, eh? Lots of 60/70/80's RPI fans on this thread.

A journey of a thousand miles may begin with a single step, but a journey of a thousand miles does not consist of one step. The point is: Let's not get ahead of ourselves. We have a VERY LONG way to go before we can even think about boasting anything.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

You don't seem to be able to just pick a seat, e.g., if you want an aisle seat.

Yeah - looks like closest you can get is picking which section you want to sit in, followed by repeated clicks of the "Find Next Best Seat" to cycle through the seating options that are available in that section.

If there actually is a person on earth who thinks the Sabres can beat anyone easily, it probably is FD.

"You must spread some reputation around before giving it to jmhusker again."

If you click it enough times, eventually it dumps you into a shopping cart in an apparent glitch.

The inability to select anything beyond "best available" (by an algorithm of who-knows-what origin) is a big limitation. If you're looking for seats low down in the section (for example if you can't climb the stairs and want to be in the first few rows), by the time you can click enough to get there you've been dumped into the shopping cart and have to start over.

So while it may work some of the time, still not a complete replacement for calling the box office.

Who are you? Steve Stirling?

all I can say is Frank Cole earned the distinction of being my all time favorite ref. :D
Besides, it serves PC right after their obnoxious fans were up all night banging on doors at the team hotel in Detroit. That was a hard fought win. I am still savoring the title. It never gets old.

i just wanted to say Happy Birthday.

OK, I'll bite. Whose birthday is it?

Ralph...for shame....its RPI's birthday...according to TW News...

You're kidding me, right? Or are you actually responding earnestly to an obvious joke?

I think that there is a connection here, but RPIPuzzleGuy probably doesn't get as many candles. :D

From what I've been able to tell, it looks like it won't let you have seats any closer to the ice than Row G in a section. If you look closely at the seating chart map (which laughably still has the stage shown), the seats are either white or gray. Appears the white seats are seats that are already taken, while the gray seats are seats that are available.

You can also view a much larger version of the seating chart by right-clicking it and selecting "View Image" to load the seating chart by itself. Despite being a very small image on the ticket selection page, it's actually a 2304x1440 image that's generated for each event. Assuming it's a real-time representation of what's available, it can be useful for knowing what's available when you contact the box office.

Welcome, uncledave on your first post. From the Buddy Powers days, eh? Lots of 60/70/80's RPI fans on this thread.

My first game was during 84-85 season. My buddy took me, telling me how good "these guys" were. After one period, it was Dartmouth 1 RPI 0. He told me not to worry, "Oates and Carter can score whenever they want." I think the final was 11-1 or 12-1 RPI and so it began. After going with him as a guest for a few years, including road trips to Harvard, Vermont and Colgate, I got my own tickets and have been there ever since.
