RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

So, last night, FlagDUDETTE's nephew had a chance to experience his first hockey game. I really wish I could have taken him to see the RPI team give somewhat of an effort. At least he got a puck out of it (and not the one everyone was cheering about).

I'm not sure if it's lack of confidence or what, But if the BRO, someone who was recruited to be a bruiser and shut-down defensive player, is out there doing effectively what the forwards should be doing, on top of his shut-down responsibilities, you know that this team is in dire straits. And then you have a guy like Travis Fulton, barely gets ice time, yet plays like he's working six times as hard as the regulars out there, regardless of how hard he actually is working. This team has completely forgotten about O, and it's no wonder players are getting very early contracts for the pros, because the pro leagues have zero confidence in the team's offensive capabilities.

Hampton hasn't played D all year. He must have moved, similar to Brutlag a few years back.

Ok....that explains putting Hampton up front. In the 4-1 loss to Denver last weekend, he also had Brokenfohr playing forward on a line with Wood and Hampton. Has he also converted Brokenfohr?

He was back on D this Friday.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

I have spent a lot of time thinking about what happened last night, and can only come up with two possibilities.
Lack of leadership from both coaches and players, or
Rebellion, the players just don't like what they are being asked to do.
I truly hope that I am wrong on both fronts.
But the team was a shadow of itself this weekend compared to the last two weekends.
We did not have a good record coming into this weekend, but we played fast and hard in our losses.
This weekend, we seemed like we were not interested. JMO

I really hope you aren't serious, but it's sad it has come to this. :( I noticed 3 gentlemen who used to sit behind us in Section 7 must have gave up their seats because they aren't there this year and have been for at least the last 5 seasons.

As far as what happened this weekend and in particular last night, I don't think I've ever seen an RPI team play a worse game. There was never the sense that they would mount any sort of comeback. Bentley played well but I can recall a time when 2 games at home vs. a team like Bentley would have meant 2 wins and lets move on..

I saw an RPI player (upperclassman) totally give up on a board battle. Stopped digging, stopped working, he just leaned back against the boards near the RPI bench and the Bentley player just came up with the puck. I actually had to turn around and ask the guy that sits behind me if what I saw actually happened, and he saw it too. How can nobody score? I actually thought Haggs and Zalewski leaving could've been a good thing because it would have opened up opportunities for other guys, but at this point that doesn't appear to be the case.

I agree with what EHF said, they looked totally uninterested. They look totally lost and rudderless out there. And looking across the way at the bench during stoppages in play or during play , I don't see much coaching going on. Just arms crossed, looking at the backs of jerseys, and puzzled.
I will not panic yet. The freshman class has talent and I think Kasdorf will hit his stride soon. Having said that, I agree with what most people saw this weekend. The team looked totally out of sync most of the time. They continue what we have seen the past few seasons they pass, pass, pass and seem to be looking for the perfect shot. Time to Chang tactics and throw everything at the net and go hard to the goal. Most of the upperclassmen stunk this weekend and both goalies were barely average. RPI was outplayed in every facet. The special teams are atrocious. The power play has no flow and appears to have no plan. I believe this team has more talent than some people on this forum. Something is desperately wrong and I have no clue what it is, but a 1-3 team that opens at home with two listless, unspirited and uninspired performances such as we saw needs to decide they want to do more than just show up. It starts with the coaches and the seniors. If union can't get this team motivated, then this season will be lost very early on.

It's certainly reminding me of 2008-09, that's for sure. We've already pretty much lost any shot at an at-large by losing to Bentley. But forget the playoffs, or even a game, I just hope we can score another goal at this point.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

I see the majority of posters are gone too, either driven out by the teams performance or driven out by some negative posters. If its the latter that's too bad.

A little bit of both for me. As much as I'm a little disheartened right now, it's hard to deal with the overwhelming negativity of "lol im selling my season tix now" or "FIAR APPART AGAIN". It's also hard to deal with a sweep by Bentley. I expected a rough start due to all of the new blood on the team this year, but even our goaltending, which is the one thing RPI usually has to fall back on, has not looked better than average thus far this season.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

I don't consider myself part of the "FIAR APPART" crew but I do have to wonder if he's earned the G in OGC... or best case, maybe it stands for "good" rather than "great." I shall remain optimistic that the team will improve over the season, but so far it seems that the sum is worth less than it's parts.

fwiw I didn't say lol, and am dead serious about selling the tickets. they're in section 14 if anyone is interested.

It's this kind of blather that makes his site less and less attractive to me. I'll bet my house Flag Dude that we score again this year. If we do, then how about you stop posting garbage like this - for one year?

Bad weekend for sure. I do have concerns with Koudys and Zalewski leaving (for different reasons). Something just smells a little off. Zalewski is not even playing much for Utica. Perhaps he's hurt? If not, then you've got to wonder why anyone would leave school 2 years early to be a borderline AHL player. The clock only ticks for prospects for about 200 games before a team starts to give up. Waiting those 2 more years would have made a lot of sense. Perhaps he just felt like he was spinning his wheels?

It is still early and for me the jury is still out on this team. Let's see where they are at Thanksgiving.

Double ditto, in spades!!!

You can't handle the truth. Fortunately I was attending a party and missed the game. But even I was surprised when my autotext came in with the 4-0 result. FD is correct about the At-Large as I was thinking the same thing. We will likely lose comparisons to most AHA teams which should be a given for any decent contender. I will not waste time or keystrokes again about our poor coaching for the past 9 years. Those of you with cognitive dissonance are beyond convincing anyway. But 6 goals in 6 games is pathetic. Our record reflects our play. Looking back, I never would have thought that my time taking finals in the HFH would be a more enjoyable experience than watching this putrid team.

Why would we lose comparisons to AHA teams? Bentley was close to the top of that conference last year and there's no reason to think that they won't be there this year. I'm not going to say that losing to Bentley won't seriously hurt our pairwise rankings, but I don't think we need to worry about losing to AHA teams.

I've been saying that for some time now. Makes no sense to me all the higher-end talent who has come and then left. Tell me where it has left any one of them better off than if they stayed even one extra year.... JDA, Pirri, Zalweski, etc...?

Six games into the season and we're talking about Pairwise Rankings already?
