Let's talk about team offense rankings instead. 51st in the nation. It's probably early to be talking about that as well. Let's wait until they've scored 25 goals or so, which should be roughly oct of 2016.

Pirri was able to immediately get some time in the big one.

Bad weekend for sure. I do have concerns with Koudys and Zalewski leaving (for different reasons). Something just smells a little off. Zalewski is not even playing much for Utica. Perhaps he's hurt? If not, then you've got to wonder why anyone would leave school 2 years early to be a borderline AHL player. The clock only ticks for prospects for about 200 games before a team starts to give up. Waiting those 2 more years would have made a lot of sense. Perhaps he just felt like he was spinning his wheels?

It is still early and for me the jury is still out on this team. Let's see where they are at Thanksgiving.

Agreed. Too early to give up hope. They enter a very tough stretch the next month with Union twice, Harvard, Dartmouth, Q'Pac, UNH and Michigan. By the end of November, we will know a lot more about this team.

or the whole team came down with a virus at the same time and was showing the symptoms collectively in their sluggishness both physical and mental...:(

Have to disagree here. After a stellar camp HC Gallant decides to scratch BP the first 4 games. Bolland gets hurt BP in lineup. If you watched that 1st game w/Pirri he was exceptional. Even the PxP guy was lauding his play. He then scores a goal in each of his next 2 games...AND his D-play is now being noticed & high-lighted on the telecasts. That’s about all the enthusiasm I can muster for now relating to anything RPI hockey.

I hope he gets into games more often as a result. This isn't my point - I'm arguing he should NOT have left - 5 years to be the 13th forward on Florida tells me he wasn't ready back then. I would argue he would have been farther along if he stayed. Same story for all the others - why are they leaving?

I'm not really hopeful... I just don't think it is wise to make up one's mind until we have enough data points. 2 months of hockey should be enough for the coaches to get the freshman assimilated. Maybe we'll see some improvement, maybe not. I just don't want to see the BRO trying to rush the puck end to end or making moves at the offensive blue line instead of just getting it deep. We need to grind out wins with simple hockey.

I believe the point trying to be made is that the professional leagues don't trust Appert's coaching when it comes to the offensive side of things. Pirri's a pretty bad basis to make that argument, though, because a second round draft pick is typically very close to ready.

*scratching head* - this has nothing to do pros trusting Appert (!!??) - has to do with all of this talent coming to Troy and leaving before they are ready. And why that is? Unless you think it's typical for a 2nd round pick to take 5 years to be a spare part on a sub 500 team...?

Ralph - it may be money, but I can't help but think their salaries aren't going to be better if they stay at RPI and become better players. Capgeek data shows they aren't signing for "1st round can't pass up" type money...

I just got it in the mail yesterday. Most charities seem to mail their letters earlier each year. I guess it is refreshing when one comes a few months later. :)

BTW, SA states that they are going to begin fundraising this year for a European trip which he expects to happen in the next two years.


Edit: We can't find enough teams to lose to in the US. ;)

I'm with FlagDUDE88 on this one. Everywhere, except on this board, it's possible to be critical of the coach and not be accused of wishing to see him fired. I get that a lot of folks like him; he's nice, he's professional, he handled the Bennett thing with a lot of class, he has the team stand completely still for the National Anthem - what's not to root for? But really, we need to tone down the defense of him, it's just irrational. He has done a poor job to date by just about any measure. That said, since he's signed through 2021, he's the coach for the foreseeable future and rooting for the team means rooting for him. I don't think it's appropriate in-season but I'll go back to my offseason idea that we should spend a bit of money and hire someone like Jack Parker to help the staff. I know Jack got tripped up by some of his players toward the end of his career but I really think someone with that much high-caliber experience could help identify specific areas for improvement. If we don't turn it around this season, we really should be looking for some new ideas. If it's not Jack Parker, I'm all ears for other ideas ... other than "let's just fire the coach" ... because that just isn't happening anytime soon.
