I went to the Yale game and was only able to follow on Twitter. Is there anything good to take away from this other than Nanne potting two?

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Gee, OGC notices a problem with the team's performance in a certain area, and brings in a new staff person skilled in that area to help solve that problem. How about that!

Queue the complaints that it has not brought immediate results in three, two, one....

Look, I try to be as agnostic to coaching staff as I can be, and put more burden and responsibility on the guys on the ice. But even I'm starting to get frustrated with this "oh we made a change, look, things will get better!" and then the start of the season is either great and we trail off, or we have problems right out of the gate.

The problem that RPI has had for say, the past decade, is that they can't play a 60 minute hockey game. Period. They get about 5 minutes of brilliance, then 5 of stupidity, etc. etc. as a general rule.

My point here being that I'm not hopping on the OMG FIAR APPART EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS TEAM IS JUST THE WORST train, but I am definitely getting frustrated with the inconsistent and disappointing product on the ice, season after season. I will always bleed red and I'll always support my team, but it's really difficult sometimes. My thought is that if any of the admin at RPI cares about bringing this team back to being a regular threat, and if Appert keeps this up for another season or two, he is going to be shown the door. Note that this is just my thought, and not something I'm betting on.

You're kidding, right? Someone waves a few hundred grand in your face and a shot at your dream job, are you telling me you wouldn't take it now (knowing there's no guarantee you'll get another offer again if you turn it down)?

I think you're just looking to find any and every reason to complain.

Remember, this is the same fan who basically pulled a 180 when we beat Union at the TUC last season, for about a week. Some people thrive on complaining about things.

Perhaps that explains something. And yes, I understand who posted it.

Typically, a coach has three years (the amount of time, on average, that a team should make the ECAC championships, you could also use four if you want to gauge the NCAA tournament) to prove himself (or herself) worthy of the job. Because it's college and how the recruiting process works, I'm willing to give them an extra two years. After three (or five) bad years, get rid of the coach and find a different one. Yes, I understand that this runs the risk of making the team perennially mediocre, hence why I give the extra time to get a system in, but if you're going to be there anyway with the coach as it is, you don't have much to lose. Pulling the 180 exposes a gaping loophole in the process. It shows the sign of a labourer who is more worried about keeping his/her job rather than doing his/her job.

I woke up this morning, the sun was shining, I took a deep breath and realized it's all going to be ok....you just have to believe.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Hello everyone. If you're planning on attending the game on Saturday, October 25th, we will be holding the 4th Annual RPI Parents Weekend Tailgate. Details are not finalized yet, so bear with me. But plan on joining us at around 3pm...exact location TBD. If you haven't joined us in the past, just bring some food for about 15-20 people; no food assignments will be given out. Also, bring your beverage of choice. It's a great opportunity for loyal fans to meet the parents of incoming players, as well as chat with parents of upper class men. I hope some of you can make it....GO ENGINEERS!
Is this still happening?

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Its early in the season but ughhhhh even though the score was tight it was a terrible game. The only thing that made the game fun was a good crowd. Pucks rolling over players sticks in open ice. Hopefully its just nerves. Imagine Addessa loosing to a team like Bently?
I can't understand why people are oppsed to letting Seth go with his big contract? I guess we are opposed to Seth getting paid for not coaching but isn't that already happening?
I really dont buy notion that his players leave because NHL organizations offer big contracts. You don't think other D1 teams have the same issues?

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

"I really like their team" says SA after losing to Bentley. Strange words from an opposing coach unless he is anticipating a bid from them after he's fired! Of course, it is still very early in the season. Tonight a victory would not be atonement but would put a little salve on the wounds, which, on paper, will be reopened next weekend.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Saw the post game video and could only agree with SA when he mentioned we had one really good line out there last night. One line did all the scoring and created other good chances. What i did see was defensive pairings that just did not communicate well with each other and other lines that seemed to be a step slow to every puck. I was also a bit troubled by our star goalie looking a bit more mortal than usual. Hopefully it was just one game and my over reaction. But he looked particularly vulnerable to shots in areas that he normally just gobbles up. There were also a few defensive lapses that were just unforgivable and we paid for them. BTW last night was a good reason to not pay much attention to +/- on the stat sheet if you had not seen the game. Everyone on the ice for the 2 empty net goals got stuck with a couple minuses and it just shows how meaningless that stat really can be.

That was probably my fault for choosing him in PtC.

If SA really liked Bentley last night, he must love them tonight. Just might be the lowest point in RPI hockey in a long, long time.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Well not much to say. This is the worst RPI team I have ever seen. The talent is not there and the coaching issue has been beaten to death. I see the majority of posters are gone too, either driven out by the teams performance or driven out by some negative posters. If its the latter that's too bad. Spent one night watching each CD team this weekend and not to hard to figure out which one is more entertaining. Despite Unions recent success over RPI, the games have been entertaining, competitive and hotly contested. Not expecting that this weekend.

Which night did you watch RPI?
