RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

As an aside, I mentioned on twitter that I'm not real confident with this bracket, and could see this result having the Engineers in Manchester against Lowell in the first round (RPI to Manchester, Niagara to Toledo, Notre Dame to Grand Rapids). The 7-8-9-10 teams all being WCHA completely destroys bracket integrity anyway, and that swap of four seeds places all of them closer to home. It's a better draw for the Engineers (and their fans), but Minnesota would probably consider that a screwjob move.

Minnesota shouldn't look past us, or 1954 might repeat. ;)

I'm a Sophomore as well, just joined not more than a week ago after I found this forum. I have only made two posts so far, one of them being the update on Tinordi's season ending injury, so i am just trying to find a groove in this forum.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

I just ran a few scenarios for PWR, for the next week. Here's what I think we're rooting for:

Michigan over NM - to drop NM as a TUC. This removes a losing comparison for RPI and removes a bunch of TUC wins from teams near us. It helps Wisconsin and earns them at least another matchup, but it's the lesser evil.
NMU's leading scorer broke his leg in practice today.

Well, a hearty welcome to you. :) Don't be thrown by the excessive posting of Ralph, DrD, and myself. As much as others may think otherwise, we don't run this board. Although Ralph probably knows more about these boards than the mods. :p:D

Me?

My welcome also. It's good to know that there are several current students posting, as those of us like DrD and me are far removed from the current situation at RPI, and although universities don't change much from year to year, they do change a lot over several decades. Even the Approach was rebuilt, something I thought wouldn't happen until someone died falling between the steps. :D (That's probably about a decade old news now, so maybe it is falling apart again. :D )

Edit: It was rebuilt in 1999.

IIRC, the Approach is used daily by all the students who reside in the dorm that was built where the motel used to be. We haven't been back to Troy since before construction on that dorm was completed (that was one of the motels we used to stay at, across from the bowling alley and the Public Aid office).

I think I only used the Approach once during my stay at RPI.

I always stayed there until it became a dorm. The last two years I stayed in Latham and didn't have a reason to look at the Approach. I climbed it at least three times since it was rebuilt and was impressed since even when I was a freshman it was an adventure navigating it, and it became worse after that.

FD: Are you kidding? I don't even run my own house. You met Jenny-she may be small in stature but she packs a heck of a wallop.

Great to have you on here. Your presence helps bring down the average age a bit:) and gives us a perspective that we really need.

Ralph-thanks for the link-I read the entire posting a couple times. What is scaring me is that I am actually beginning to understand some of this. I will need medication to sleep tonight after this since all those comparisons are now running through my head-just like when you hear some obnoxious song and just cannot get it to stop in your mind. Hopefully enough things will go our way this coming weekend that by Monday we will be able to simplify all of this.

Be like us Gen-Y'ers, then, and have a computer do the work for you! :D

I just find it fascinating that in some cases we have to root for teams we hate, watch match ups and have a vested interest in games involving teams that we have never played and will not play, and can, at times, even benefit by losing. Next year I hope we simplify all of this by just winning so many games early in the season that we lock up an NCAA at large bid by Christmas.;)

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

Am I the only one missing AspyDad I tried to get him back but he feels vindicated by the current winning streak and overall Team performance and His take
down of Paul Stewart. His desire is to go out on top. I have pleaded with him now for a week and have gotten nowhere our only hope is His personal Hockey Rabbi babo he listens to her. I have suspected for years that Aspydad is actually Batman now Im not saying he is or isn't but I am saying in over 40 tears I have never seen
Him and Batman in the same room you engineers do that math. I believe the new thread title should read "Our Great AspyDad...Phone Home"

Only because you have invoked my influence...ASPYDAD! Quit ******ing around and stop getting TB upset (he's in a frail and compromised postion, after all...). No gloating; not a word about being right. Put on your big boy pants and come back and play nicely with others or I'll reign hell down on you with the fire of a thousand gin and tonics...or...er..um...whatever! Just stop being a grumpy guss and get back with your bro...(not to be confused with B.R.O....) [How's that, TB?]:D
