Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

Looks like according to this weeks poll on the ECAC site a lot of voters are taking notice of our improvement over the past 2 months.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

I was reading Ed Weaver's article in today's Record, and it was mentioned that it was decided to red shirt Schroeder. Does anyone know if this has been approved, or has it only been applied for?

Everything he should have stayed a CO! My seats are about 15 yards away.

Obviously you think he sucks and thats fine. No one ever thinks officials do a good job in any sport so I take it all with a grain of salt. If your seats are 15 yards away from one sidethen you are about 45 yards away from the other! Sometimes we see things differently from our angle. He doesn't stick out any differently than the other linesmen to me.

On a different note, I have rarely seen a player turn a season around like I have seen done by Nick Bailen. In past 2 years he has shown great ability but it didn't seem like he had it going the first third of the season. Since then he has been one of many reasons this team is headed in the right direction. His offensive contributions will be missed next year. Looks like we have a good one coming into replace him in Parker Reno. Just wish he had a year of USHL experience before coming in.

I guess once Appert showed him during the BU game that his play time is not guaranteed either is about when he turned it around.

John: I haven't watched the individual linesmen carefully-but it does seem that faceoffs have been a bit worse in the past year or two. I am nto sure why-whether they are just dropping the puck poorly-in the wrong place, or unevenly, or probably just the timing. Sort of line the start of a 100 yard race when the starter has them take their mark, then get set, and then shoot the gun. It is all about timing and some of these guys are consistent with that timing-and some are not. But this is all coonjecture on my part-I have been focused more on the refs. We have had some abyssmal calls this year-maybe not as many as we have had some years-but mostly by only a couple of refs. Most have called games pretty fairly and consistently. The last few games have been very well done-but we should watch friday night carefully.

I don't think one can "decide" until the NCAA approves it. I think its safe to assume that Schroeder was granted the red shirt by the NCAA.

I thought the talks were for next year, when hockeyhound was going to stop by.
Nope - there was discussion of doing something this weekend, but apparently not enough critical mass. I'd be interested in participating in a playoff tailgate..the sun's a bit higher now and it SHOULD be milder out....:D

EDIT: If Hound is coming east, it WILL be an epic event...and we're gonna need more Johnny Walker...:D:D

Jenny and I tried hard to make him more of a Vodka guy. Thought a few gimlets would do the trick.;) I will say though, that his coming east would be enough to get us up for whatever is planned.

That's what I meant. Has the NCAA indeed approved it? I don't think that it is a foregone conclusion that they will because of the number of games that he played.

Isn't the number of games a hard-line rule of 30% of the team's games? Of course, you ALSO have to show a legit injury, but I assume that isn't an issue here.

If it is 30%, it isn't a problem, but I thought that the limit was less than that.

Hahaha! THAT is awesome...I actually have a can of Bab-O (bought for obvious reasons). There is a restaurant in NYC (Mario Batali's) called Babbo (I think I heard it loosely translates from Italian slang meaning "Daddy" or "Pop" . If I ever get to Pittsburgh, I will have my photo taken in front of Bab-O Tower!

Babbo is fantastic, although I'm more partial to another place of his, Otto Enoteca. Its a must try. :)

Why change whats working? You don't. Lines are the same as last weekend.

Especially considering that there's all of one person you could insert into the lineup other than a goaltender change (which isn't happening either).
