RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

Here's why I asked.

Some years ago, I took a tour of the city of Pittsburgh. Along the way, the tour guide pointed to three multi-story cylindrical towers. He said they were dorms for the University of Pittsburgh, built about 50 years ago.

The architect who designed the dorms didn't bother to name them when he was drawing up the plans. He simply labeled them A, B, and C, figuring that the university would eventually name them after distinguished alumni or former faculty members.

When the towers were ready to open, the university hadn't decided on special names for them, so they referred to them collectively as the Tower Residence Halls and individually as Tower A, Tower B, and Tower C.

The complex was eventually named for Edward Litchfield, former chancellor of the university, so the official collective name is the Litchfield Towers, but the official names of the three individual towers are still Tower A, Tower B, and Tower C.

However, the students rarely, if ever, refer to them by the official names. Long ago, somebody noticed the resemblance between the shape of each tower and a can of cleanser, and nicknamed them Ajax, Bab-O, and Comet.

Which explains why, every time I see a post from you, I think of the University of Pittsburgh. :D
Hahaha! THAT is awesome...I actually have a can of Bab-O (bought for obvious reasons). There is a restaurant in NYC (Mario Batali's) called Babbo (I think I heard it loosely translates from Italian slang meaning "Daddy" or "Pop" . If I ever get to Pittsburgh, I will have my photo taken in front of Bab-O Tower!

I should have figured that the 'Tute was cheap. :)

That'd be something if the giveaway was little bottles of hair gel, similar to the little shampoo bottles that you see in a hotel room. RPI Hockey maybe picks up Vidal Sassoon as a sponsor. Or whatever brand Coach uses. :D

Ciamaga is doing both nights. Kotyra on Friday, Carusone on Saturday. Faceoffs will be awful on Saturday.

By awful, you mean the lineman in question will actually take the time to make sure no one is getting a jump into the circle or coming of the restraing lines? You must be one of the moaners that just yell drop the puck. Luckily the linesman abide by the rules and toss people for illegal faceoffs. If they don't you will just have a free for all on faceoffs by the 2nd period. By doing this the game might actually get over at 9:06 instaed of 9:03. If your worried about the extra time, count how long we all wait for the numerous times the net will come off at the east end this weekend.

Incorrect. All of the linesmen do this, and rules are rules. Why don't you consider when the puck is actually dropping between the players, or at least that's where it's SUPPOSED to go...

So he is consistantly missing the dot with the puck????? Find that hard to believe but I will watch closely this weekend.

Thanks. I'd be really interested to hear what you notice. Some people (cough cough) are given to hyperbole which results in other people wondering whether any one particular statement is reliable or exaggerated.

Bottom line - he sucks

At what? Faceoffs, offsides, icings? All of the above? Hard to believe the AHL hired him from all I read on here but hey your view from 30-50 yards must be much better than the guys on the ice so it must be true.

On a different note, I have rarely seen a player turn a season around like I have seen done by Nick Bailen. In past 2 years he has shown great ability but it didn't seem like he had it going the first third of the season. Since then he has been one of many reasons this team is headed in the right direction. His offensive contributions will be missed next year. Looks like we have a good one coming into replace him in Parker Reno. Just wish he had a year of USHL experience before coming in.

Everything he should have stayed a CO! My seats are about 15 yards away.

Reno is not the offensive force that Bailen is. He gets his points, at least on the HS level, and can play the point on the powerplay, but he is not going to replace the offensive contribution that Bailen gives, and that will be hard to replace. OTOH, he will be steadier on defense, no plus/minus of -4 in a 4-1 loss as Bailen had vs. Cornell.
