Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part 1: Pocket Protectors and Hockey Sticks

Late to the party...couldn't bring myself to read through this any earlier.

Here's my two cents from being at the game Saturday:

Deep breaths everyone, I think we're going to be okay. I'm much less worried after seeing the team Saturday than after listening to the game Friday. I was a little shocked by the scratches, but we had a lot of freshmen get a lot of playing time, which is good. Fulton looked great, Hampton was solid and I loved the effort from Bokenfohr too. The team came out firing on all cylinders right from the get-go: the game was almost scarily fast-paced. We never gave up a powerplay goal, and Bryce looked good. Played the puck a lot more than usual, (and he usually plays it a lot!) but seemed to make smarter decisions with it. Higgs and Lee got sat the entire first period and the first two minutes of the second, when we had a powerplay. Saw a lot more discipline from the team, including Luke Curadi just standing there and taking it when one of Harvard's players decided to headbutt him-which resulted in a powerplay for us, instead of the retaliation penalties we had against Union. Unfortunate that we couldn't seem to buy a goal, but it certainly wasn't for lack of trying. If we can keep the same drive and effort I saw on Saturday, I think we'll do just fine. (knock on wood, fingers crossed, and all that)

As to who was scratched or sat for what reason, the team spends an awful lot of hours together a week practicing, travelling, playing, etc. and we only see a very small number of those hours. Who knows what goes on behind the scenes-it's not always a direct result of gametime play.

The article linked states that Schroeder is out and Rogic is questionable.

the troy record has video of SA and JL interview on the right hand side. can a tech guy grab them and put up the link/

This interview with Coach Appert would have been the perfect spot for him to just go Jim Mora or Herm Edwards on Schott and Weaver or whoever the Record sent over.

This is so awful, not only on the men's side but on the women's side as well, that I'm ready to start bookie-ing some bets. Who will win the first league game for RPI: men or women?:mad:

I haven't given up on this men's team yet. But i just had a fantastic dirty Martini made with Chopin Vodka and everything just seems pretty good right now.:) Unless I take a look at my stock portfolio and then I might need another drink.

Hal Mcrae maybe? Yeah that would be classic, seeing Kenny Schott shuffle out of the office.
