Re: RPI Engineers 2018-2019

We didn't play any league games, but our KRACH did change so we slipped a bit. I only ran 100k sims this week, but the averages should still be basically the same as if I had (the ranges may be narrower, but you can't assume that as a rule). There's basically a tie between us, Quinnipiac, and Brown just above the cut line, so we have a little bit of wiggle room here, but it's going to be pretty important to take a few points at Harvard and Dartmouth in a couple weeks, even though it's on the road.

RPI KRACH (RRWP): 57.54 (0.3850)

MCTs (Mean/Median/Mode/Range):
Points - 19.82 / 20 / 20 / 6 - 35
Rank - 7.24 / 7 / 6 / 1 - 12
Playoffs - 77.6% (Home - 2.7%)
Most likely opponent - at Princeton (18.7%)

Conference Rankings:
  1. Clarkson
  2. Princeton
  3. SLU
  4. Cornell

But also we should score some goals (and also take more shots).

Re: RPI Engineers 2018-2019

So, once again today this team demonstrates that they are a hard working and disciplined team. But severely lacking in offense. Over to you Marc Cavosie. What are you doing to turn that around?

Re: RPI Engineers 2018-2019

I am shocked Selander did not play today.

I wasn't. Bombay has been playing well this season, Selander had a busy game on Saturday, and it was a non-league game, so why not give Bombay some time? It's too bad that both are graduating this year.

Re: RPI Engineers 2018-2019

More games, more losses, more KRACH slippage, and even though these games didn't even count, our cushion is basically gone. At least we play meaningful hockey this weekend. Anything less than two points would put us in a worse position than we are now.

RPI KRACH (RRWP): 43.98 (0.3338)

MCTs (Mean/Median/Mode/Range):

Re: RPI Engineers 2018-2019

Before this weekend, I said two points would be enough to keep us at break-even, but Harvard taking four points has propelled them above us on the table and left us in a much more precarious position. Looking forward, we've got a tough home weekend coming. Knocking off Princeton is unlikely, but beating Quinnipiac is just the kind of win we need to get at home if we think we're good enough to compete in this league. Regardless, anything less than two points would likely push us on the wrong side of the coin flip.

Re: RPI Engineers 2018-2019

Who would have thought that after six league games, RPI would be tied in the standings with Clarkson?

Re: RPI Engineers 2018-2019

No one can say they predicted that. Lovisa is tremendous.

I agree. On the Clarkson board, a Clarkson fan, who will remain nameless, was disappointed that Selander was picked over Sauve on the preseason ECAC all-star team, despite the fact that Sauve had not yet played for Clarkson. Preseason teams are pretty meaningless, but Selander was the logical choice.

Re: RPI Engineers 2018-2019

Based on Lovisa' s performance last year, she easily should have been a pre-season pick. That's not taking anything from Sauve but she is the newcomer.

I was not disappointed Ralph, only pointing out Selander's pick. ;)

I guess that it is the usual problem with posts rather than conversations -- it is hard to figure out the exact intent of a post. I have certainly been misinterpreted many times also. You wrote:

Clarkson places Gabel, Giguere and Shelton on the ECAC Pre-Season All League team. Congrats to them. Sauve is passed over for the goalie position.

I interpreted "passed over" as meaning "she should have won, but didn't". As I wrote in response that I chuckled over this and did say that when the smoke clears, Sauve could be the end-of-year selection.

Moving on. Considering RPI's lack of offense this season and the amount that the team has to rely on Selander to have a shot at the playoffs, I wonder how they will do next year. With both Selander and Bombay graduating and Gregg yet to have seen any game action, the team will have to rely on rookies as in 2015-16. Amanda Rampado appears to be a good goaltender, but I wonder how good. We still need another, or at least I have not seen another mentioned anywhere.
