RPI Engineers '15-'16

Re: RPI Engineers '15-'16

I'm looking at their schedule and it says they're 2-16. Is that not terrible? Am I missing something?
Yes, the fact that Mercyhurst and Merrimack are spelled differently. :D

Re: RPI Engineers '15-'16

Woooooooow. I feel shame.
I'd guess we've all done it. I wish I had a dollar for every time I've clicked the wrong link for a team and been puzzled by what I saw. Sometimes I'm looking at the men's schedule and I don't notice until I click on a game or stats and see all the players named Tyler and Josh.

I was looking at RPI's schedule on collegehockeystats, and I replaced the "ren" in the URL with "mer". When it loaded, I just assumed that it was Mercyhurst without a second thought. I kind of forgot that Merrimack existed.

It doesn't look like Heidi Niskanen is there.

Re: RPI Engineers '15-'16

More like horrible, they have yet to win a game. Still, whenever a defenseman scores 3 of a team's 9 goals, it's an accomplishment.

Agree to some extent but depends on the role her coach has her play. Example a player I know now on Union played D but part of her role was skate down the ice, lead the rush and shoot. She scored often. When not on her HS team, ie summer team, or before/after team she played the role of a forward/center.

Some players when they smell blood so to speak ie blowing out another team just think I'm going to get mine and push for a goal(s) of their own. Not sure of the circumstances but always good to score goals.

Well, I don't disagree that scoring is a good thing, but there are a lot of good HS defenseman who don't understand the difference between picking your moments and just attacking every play (that is a maturity/experience thing). I distinctly remember a recent U18 D who I watched over the years. She was a very skilled player and she was obviously coached to lug the puck and attack at all times. Time after time I watched her step up on the aggressive move (with and without the puck) and leave her D partner hanging out to dry. She scored a lot of impressive goals, but her play resulted in as many scored against when playing comparably talented teams (the Assabet team used to feast on her mistakes). She ended up highly recruited and is playing in the WCHA and is a good offensive D who scores but the same breakeven +/- ratio continues in her upper class years and I see she is playing less this season. You tell me, was that good coaching for her? I suppose it got her a scholarship, but she likely will never become the potential Olympian she could have been.

Re: RPI Engineers '15-'16

Good news that Horwood is back because she was having a good season before the injury. But it looks like Schwalbe and Raspa are still out?
