Vaughn is pissed because on the game winning rush one of our guys was coming off and he tangled skates with a Colgate forward sending him sprawling. It looked accidental but Colgate wanted interference and May have had a case. The Colgate announcer missed it and kept talking about off-sides. The refs ignored Vaughn because a missed interference in the center zone is not reviewable.

Definitely looked accidental. With the win and Union loss, we're now tied for 8th with Union.

Cornell wins 10-1 over Union

And with both Union and Brown losing tonight, we move back into 8th place tied with Union but I think we have the tie-breaker (how I have no idea).
Has to be a nice bus ride home tonight and hopefully will give them some confidence coming home next weekend.

Thanks for that. I had no idea what was going on after that goal, but Vaughn was really upset.
Maybe they were making up for the linesman taking out the RPI defenseman on Colgate's goal.

That tie up at the center wasn't a penalty. Vaughn just wanted something to whine about after Beaton skated through their defense. If it was a penalty, you could make just as much of an argument it was on Colgate as it was on RPI

I agree with you. I posted a detailed analysis of the play on the Colgate board. The short version is that neither player saw the other and both were skating a straight line to their destinations while neither had the puck or were shadowing the puck carrier = incidental contact.

I think Coach Vaughn was having a tough weekend after that empty net faceoff backfired against Union. Colgate is sitting in fourth and getting a 0 point weekend with two bottom four teams in town was a setback.

Yes, if Colgate finishes in the top 4, we will have at least 2 wins against top 4 teams. Could it be a plus for us in a tie-breaker scenario?

Yes, we currently hold the tiebreaker over Union due to a better record vs the top 4
