Would take him seeing as how slim the options at goalie are barring EL having a trick up his sleeve. I think Krawchuk is much better of a recruit than Sanborn. The difference between the OHL and OJHL can’t be understated and I think Krawchuk has started potentialAnybody want Kyle Chauvette? I assume Union plans to hand the keys to the Michigan transfer as Chauvette entered the portal today. He seemed OK when I've seen him, but he also had the benefit of a better defensive team. If he's graduating he might be an OK option along with Krawchuk (if he's still coming) for a year while we see if Sanborn's rebirth is sustained in a higher level league (also dependent on his advisors and Lang still seeing him in Troy).
I think every coach in the league knows chauvette`s weak spots. No thanks from me. I agree with your sentiments on the two that we at least think are coming in.Would take him seeing as how slim the options at goalie are barring EL having a trick up his sleeve. I've heard from some Union fans that they felt this position needed an upgrade. The Michigan transfer's brother is going to be a senior on the Union team.I think every coach in the league knows chauvette`s weak spots. No thanks from me. Regarding Tyler Wallace not just good on Face offs (54.7%) but he also took 875 of them last year.Big kid 6'2 188 left shot, good % on faceoffs.
Tyler Wallace - 2024-25 - Men's Ice Hockey - Niagara University Athletics
Tyler Wallace (18) Forward - 2024-25 • Sophomore Played in all 37 games during the 2024-25 campaign... registered 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points... maintainedpurpleeagles.com
In the two games that he played against RPI last year, he won 32 of 53 faceoffs and had a goal and 2 assists with no penalties. Happy to have him!Regarding Tyler Wallace not just good on Face offs (54.7%) but he also took 875 of them last year.
I’m actually cautiously optimistic on Sanborn. He was a highly regarded recruit when he committed, but he struggled for whatever reason moving from prep to junior hockey while playing on a really bad team in the middle of nowhere BC. After a few starts in other places this year he found his game and has been outstanding the OJHL. Goaltenders, more than any other position, can come from unusual places. Our best goalie of the last dozen years or so came straight out of Junior B. It’s about seeing rubber. I’d like to see Sanborn move to a better league and a less dominant team to see if he’s a product of a dominant Trenton team or the victim of a bad Prince George’s lineup.Would take him seeing as how slim the options at goalie are barring EL having a trick up his sleeve. This is a fun debate.. How do you rank Savory, York, Kasdorf 1-3?I’m actually cautiously optimistic on Sanborn. I have a similar opinion about Sanborn. I wonder what Lang thinks. I hope that we get a goalie this year with one or two years remaining to play to go along with Krawchuk.I’m actually cautiously optimistic on Sanborn. We can't have such big players on ice that doesn't freeze properly.Denvers back Up goalie just went in the portal.A giant at 6ft 5 played 9 games.Hmm
I cry a single tear. (More would melt the ice.)We can't have such big players on ice that doesn't freeze properly.![]()
You can always come back from the portal, but the school doesn't have to honor the scholarship (the player forfeits it immediately when the player enters). There are always diamonds in the rough, but in hockey it is more rare--the kids already have more development time than other college sports, so good recruiters can figure out a player's ceiling. I don't think it is a good use of time to try and work D3 channels on the mens or womens side.Questions : we are nearing the end of the portal window. Women’s ends on Tuesday. An awful lot of players have not signed on anywhere. Especially on the women’s side. Based on the past, albeit only a couple of years, what happens to non committed players? Go back to their school of origin , if their teams want them ( with , I imagine, a bit of bad feelings)? Or are their college careers over? Lastly….do the rules permit going from D3- D1 and vice versa? Wonder if there are any diamonds in the rough at the D3 level ?
Kasdorf was the best, in my opinion, when he wasn't hurt, but I haven't looked at the stats. He wasn't flashy but he was great at trapping shots and controlling rebounds; it would just kill the offensive flow of the opponent. RPI was a little unlucky to not make the NCAA tournament his last year, but he was a big reason why they were in the conversation. But all 3 were good goaltenders--there's no surprise that RPI's 3 best seasons over the last 15 years happened when one of those guys was in net. This is a fun debate.. How do you rank Savory, York, Kasdorf 1-3?
I thought I was being clever when I called Savory our best goalie of the last dozen years. I was trying to exclude Kasdorf (and by extension York), but I should have gone back and looked up Jason's actual dates as an Engineer. This is a fun debate.. How do you rank Savory, York, Kasdorf 1-3?
