RPI 2025 Off-Season: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today would be a lovely day for an announcement.... just sayin' LOL The sun is out, the Yankees won and there are no bouncy ball games until tonight....A great window for news coverage today !! Ha ha

#MeToo David, if it was up to you I believe we'd still give Dave more time to rebound from Covid 😉 Very truly, Jason
I wouldn't have complained if they decided to make a change after 23-24, and I certainly think a change was necessary after this year. You are correct that I was supportive of Dave receiving his extension due to how COVID was handled; that obviously didn't work out.

I was also supportive then and expected that things would improve without Shirley et al.

The guy who does the future schedules spreadsheet has already started it for 2025-2026. Besides the obvious Mayor's Cup, we have Providence at home and a pair at Minnesota State. Ouch!!!

Would have been great news 40 years ago. Not so much these days!!!
BC is also coming to Troy

If only. Not gonna happen until next week at the earliest though since they haven't even narrowed down to finalists or brought anyone to campus yet

Will Gilson and Tyler Hotson have entered the portal. The sooner we make a hire the better, otherwise we will lose all the players we want to stick around

As an alum, I give him a benefit of the doubt that he wants to make Men's program better. No one I know has good things to say about the previous admin
I've been lurking here on this thread enjoying the discussion and speculation on a new HC, and decided to finally make an account.

I will say one nice thing about the previous admin - and keep in mind this is my view as a '93 alum who hardly has insider knowledge of anything: my recollection is that SAJ fought alongside the other D3 schools to keep RPI's program in D1 when it was threatened back in '04 or thereabouts, and took the opportunity of the victory there to immediately elevate the women's program to D1 as well. I did appreciate that - but once that was done, it seemed the hockey programs were an afterthought and SAJ and McElroy were pretty disastrous for hockey at RPI in general.

From speaking to fellow alums and friends in the area, Marty is very well liked and there is enthusiasm around both him and Bowers and hope for revival. With the change at coach we have new admin, new AD, and new coaching staff all sort of aligning and so you HOPE this is the kind of disruption of the status quo that could result in positive change going forward.

Max Smolinski has entered too. Hits keep coming :(
I think we should expect a large number of players entering the portal, as with any coaching change--I'm of two minds about it: It would be nice to keep players like Gilson and Hotson (or convince them to return), but for many (most?) players, I think a change of scenery might benefit both the player and RPI.

I've talked to all my hockey connections and it's clear to Me Lang is the Guy good X&O.guy good recruiter and most important good culture Guy something sorely missing under Dave so let's hope the Admin gets this done and we don't do a Ben Barr again !

Honor and thank them for coming to Troy but I think your second scenario of starting anew is the right track. If you bring in Lang, he can put together a competitive team.

Today is 29 March 2025. There are 189 days (27 weeks) until RPI's next game. It has been 20 days since there has been a head coach.

This is based upon 4 October 2025 for the start of next season, and 10 March was the day that coach Smith was relieved of duty.

During the BC game Colby Cohen opined "what is RPI waiting for". Let's do this Kristie
I heard that as well. LIU is now open that’s closer to the Bronx. If his wife works in the city maybe that’s more appealing to him? Just another scenario?
RPI is more $$ however. A real conundrum
