The roster at https://rpiathletics.com/sports/mens-ice-hockey/roster/2025-26 has been removed. That may mean they are working on it..
I’m trying to figure out why 3 months after Eric Lang was hired the Men’s Hockey page still says “Head Coach Dave Smith”. That’s embarrassing. Clicking on it gives you a 404 error so they knew enough to remove Dave’s bio page. How hard is it to change the text to say “Eric Lang” and, if you don’t have a bio page prepared, just make it another link to the press release?

I’m not sure what the deal is over there but the athletics communication department is a joke. They have crap up from 2010 in the hockey webpage. It’s insane

Lang is on the Staff Directory.

Congratulations to Andrew. We probably should have seen that one coming. The thing blocking Andrew from advancing in the Kings organization was Marco Sturm, so he went up to Halifax. Once Sturm was appointed coach of the B's, it was logical for the organization to bring him back.

And season ticket applications are going out today.
Which is interesting because they still have last year's ST application on the website and tickets are apparently already on sale for the Miami games on Alumni Weekend. They have many seats on the Troy side, presumably last year's season ticket holders, blocked off. Tickets to the FB game and a salute to women's sports are also on sale. I suspect this is yet another screw up as I was able to select 2 student side tickets behind the bench at center ice and proceed all the way to cashing out (which I didn't do since I don't know if I can even go that weekend). I'm sure those would be sold as student season tickets. See the link below:

I rec'd my renewal in the mail on Monday.

I'm a skeptic when it comes to NIL impact on hockey, even at big schools. It's a niche sport and no better than the #2 winter sport at a lot of big schools. While some hockey programs bring in nice revenue, the dollars are nowhere near what you can bring in for top football and basketball. For hockey, it's really down to how much the boosters will contribute.
Apple's new COO got his masters degree from RPI. Maybe Marty should dial him up and see if he's a hockey fan! https://www.timesunion.com/business...0NGQ1LThmZmMtNmU0N2YzNjZjMGQy&sharecount=MQ==

A shame. Little more the two years ago the athletic department website was among the gold standards of websites maintained by D3 sized staffs. Unfortunately, the people directly responsible for maintaining those standards, along with other key athletic and athletic facilities staff, have all left the institution.

Among the stated reasons were the usual suspects such as compensation, being over extended and overworked which warped any work life balance, no advancement opportunities despite most of them being infinitely qualified to advance and the most glaring one of all which involved having to answer to a retiree director emeritus figurehead. The last two kind of piggyback each other since having a figurehead means you both have to absorb at least some of the figureheads' workload and are automatically, by default, one organizational chart spot lower than you should be.

The departed athletic staff, numbering in total comfortably over a half dozen, was not only deep but also very competent and talented. Suitable replacements in these numbers do not exactly grow on trees and finding enough of them interested in joining your organization is probably not going to happen (and it appears it didn't). Case in point, check out the baseball roster page where there are ten freshmen listed who have already played their freshmen seasons. Yet, to this very moment, there is still not a single word of biographical information about a single one of them!!! All that is listed is their stats. WOW!!!

As for the depatrees that most wish were still around, no need to worry about virtually all of them as best as I know. It appears they have all done quite well for themselves after leaving. In fact, at least according to what I have heard more than once, at least two of them ended up where they are now via outright cherry picking recruiting. The cherry picking recruiter was yet another former institute administrator who left several years ago and knew who the remaining good ones were, where they still were and that it would not take much of a nudge to get them to move on.

There was an AP article in my local newspaper yesterday titled "Some colleges opt out of revenue sharing." The article was focused primarily on schools with Division I basketball and/or football programs. It said that while all members of the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, PAC-12 (there's still a PAC-12?), and SEC are participating in revenue sharing, some schools in other conferences are not. It said that the newly formed College Sports Commission, which oversees revenue sharing, posted a list of schools that opted in to revenue sharing before the deadline of June 30. The Ivy League schools did not opt in, nor did full members of the Patriot League.

I suppose "revenue sharing" refers to some sort of arrangement to pay players out of the proceeds of ticket sales or other revenue sources for the athletic program. The article isn't specific about exactly what it is, nor does it say where the casual fan might be able to find the list of schools that have opted in,

But in the very last paragraph, the article mentioned that some schools that don't play Division I football or basketball have opted in. Specifically mentioned were Johns Hopkins, with its lacrosse program, and Augusta (GA) University, which has a Division I golf program, perhaps not surprising in view of its location.

Does anyone know if RPI and/or any of Clarkson, SLU, and Union, all of which are Division I only in hockey, have opted into revenue sharing?

The only member of ECAC hockey that opted in is Quinnipiac. Mike McMahon of college hockey news last new letter broke down every conference who opted in and out. Qpac is the only one for ecac.

yeah it’s definitely noticeable. Bad news is like most colleges RPI is not hiring anyone unless absolutely necessary. So what we see is what we get so expect piss poor communication and lengthy waits for rosters and bio if they even bother to post bios lol. I just want to see the damn final roster with numbers. Not too much to ask
