RPI 2025 Off-Season: Help Is On the Way

It was the opener when Union won 65-0 so that makes sense, but now that they are a league member it is game 7 for us. That must be the 30K mile tune-up.

Personally I don't like a 4pm start, and I would think it's less appealing to students (though maybe Saturday night fun is not about hockey!), but the combination of families, competitive entertainment environment and making Saturday travel easier might make it logical.

We can hope that for that Clarkson game we show up at 4PM and play amongst ourselves - and they show up at 7PM after we leave with a victory by forfeit for their not being present at game time ;)

Not that men's basketball ever has enjoyed attendance figures to rival the hockey team's, but it is a fact that the men's basketball team has customarily played home games at 4 PM on Saturdays for years. This gives fans who want to attend the basketball games, especially those who might be coming to root for the visiting team, the opportunity to come, watch the game, and get out before the hockey fans arrive and the parking lots get crowded.

Haven't seen a basketball schedule yet. Maybe they'll try to have the women play at noon, so the men can play at 2:00?

Or maybe they already know hoops is away on those days with early hockey start time.
 
Hopefully, a certain parade and other goings on here will still allow me to post the countdown on Sunday. Then again, we could get about 2.74" of rain before 2AM as currently predicted by the NWS.
 
I just got done listening to a podcast with colby cohen and an nil lawyer.My impression is this entire business is a lawyers dream.I don`t see how the small schools will be abel to compete. There is a fan over on the UNH thread who thinks down the road there will be a complete reshuffeling of the leagues.I can see it happening. no way the smaller schools will be abel to compete with the teams loaded with highly paid first and second rounders deep into their line ups.

QU is the only ECAC school who would conceivably go to the other side of the fence. I wouldn't expect any of the Ivies who don't offer money for basketball or football to do so for hockey.

The money and legal expense involved with NIL and revenue sharing is huge. I agree quinny could go either way but it would be an up hill fight vs The big ten and nchc squads to ever win the brass ring again. Regarding my imaginary(as of now) league Perhaps with a new name but similiar to the old ECAC east and west. My guess is the smaller Hockey east schools would be opened to it. I would also think the atlantic hockey teams would be interested. It feels to me like we will never see another small school win a Natty ever again.

I think that the Ivies barely tolerate some of the current ECAC schools (e.g., RPI). I wonder about many of the smaller HEA and AHA schools,

I agree with you but it could be a desperate times call for desperate measures scenario.The ivies will not be abel to compete well at the national level either.Once in a while Cornell might make a run but the days of Harvard or Cornell being truly competitive at the national level are over IMO.the amount of money avalable to blow on sports at the big ten schools seems endlss.Penn state is reportedly handing out 250k for potential ist round pick to commit.College hockey has gone in a direction I nver thought it would.

I disagree. I actually think the smaller schools will become much more competitive. The nil and revenue sharing will only go so far. Plus the amount of money going to hockey from the schools for revenue sharing is peanuts. 90% goes to football and basketball. The talent pool has significantly expanded with major junior players now eligible. Not enough spots on BC, Michigan, North Dakota, etc.. the small schools benefit. NCAA will become the primary feeder system to the NHL. And major juniors and USHL will feed the NCAA. Major juniors/USHL -NCAA- AHL/NHL. It’s happening boys! College hockey is going to be next level very soon.

I hope your right and I agree that the talent level of the smaller programs will go up.My concern is that it will still pale in comparison to the big time $$ programs.

It’s definitely a concern but I think the addition of major junior players definitely helps even it out. My thoughts are the big name programs will always draw the top players. That’s what happening now. Not much will change with that. Take a look at clarkson recruits for next year. Loaded with talented major junior players. St Lawrence will be next once they fire Brett brekke who’s done a terrible job with the program.
