RPI 2024 Off-Season: Was 2023 – 2024 Just a Bad Dream?

Is any RPI fan looking for a vintage cartoon logo RPI jersey? I have one for sale. Didn’t want to post the link if it wasn’t ok to do so.

Who's complaining? I agree Muzzatt is not an example of player development this year for all the reasons you mentioned. I also agree that NHL teams influence players and agents when it comes to leaving, whether into the portal or signing early. That's a no-brainer.

Totally agree. These days any young man wishing to progress up the ladder in hockey has to be thinking of what is the Bigger Better Deal. Perhaps the major recruiting problem we have because what do we offer a young player whose aspirations are not academic but merely hockey progression? Agents, advisors, parents etc. are making decision earlier and earlier.

I agree Dr D. Schools in our league having success seem to have a system in place that helps them identify players that fit what they want to do. Schafer and Pecknold clearly are the best at it. This helps them maximize their talent and sell players on fitting into what they want to do

I think Cashman has Dartmouth headed in this direction too.

This got me thinking about some of the "thirds" that many teams now have. For the sake of discussion, I'm wondering what kinds of thirds we'd like to see. Personally I'd like to see the bullet logo from the Salfi era or the Harkness-era style jerseys as thirds or special-occasion jerseys.

I've also liked some of the recent jersey promotions and auctions they've done for BRF and other occasions.

If I had to design a home jersey, I would take the 23-24 jersey, and swap the number on the front with puckman. The crests would go on the shoulders. The RPI logo that is on the chest of the away jersey would go on the helmet. White jersey with red pants and white socks.
If I had to choose the away jersey, I would steal the exact design from the 2023 freakout jersey. It's not that the current away jerseys are bad, I quite like our current away jersey, I personally think the 2023 freakout jersey looks better. I think the state of NY intertwined with RPI looked sharp, and the white number outlines on the back, rather than filled-in numbers like on most jerseys, are really unique. Plus, if you didn't know what RPI was, you would know two things about the school: it's a school known for engineering in NY.
For blackout I sort of like the Uncle Sam logo that was used a few years ago. It ties into Troy's heritage and is something you couldn't put on a non-promotional jersey. At the end of the day, any jersey would look better than the wide camo back and red with the engineers logo that they chose in 2023.
For Freakout, I think it would be interesting to experiment with a circuit board design, sort of like Jack Watson's goalie mask but in red. I don't know what to put for a logo on it, but I would probably go with Puckman. I know this would be really controversial, but maybe keep the Freakout! text from the 2024 jersey, and put Puckman below it.

Those are just my thoughts on what I would go with if I had to design the jerseys for next season. Feel free to disagree. I am curious about other people's Jersey ideas.

My thoughts

I am not a huge fan of having black uniforms or black trim when that has not been a base school color. RPI is not alone in triggering this pet peeve for me. That said, some of the blackout sweaters have been very well done. I would rather see a 3rd uniform that leans into the light/dark grey that is part of the RPI color palate--Ohio State has had uniforms like this. Would be a nice contrast for a road or home game against Cornell or BU.

I would also like to see RPI go for a more unique template. I like some of the Ottawa 67s sweaters, if you swap out the black in those sweaters for a shade of RPI grey, I think that might look good. One example here: https://www.sportslogos.net/logos/vi...0/Home_Uniform

I am partial to the diagonal "RPI" on the front of the away sweaters, but I wouldn't mind seeing other concepts like Puckman.

The Dan frigden late 90s-early 2000s Nike jerseys were the sickest. Murley, cavoise years. Hands down the best color scheme with clean sharp lines. The current jerseys are ok but the red on the shoulders is a bit much. The worst was the ones from 4/5 years ago. The skating candy cane socks were atrocious. Appert years had some sick ones especially the RPI crest home Jersey.

This year's home sweaters were horrible IMO. They looked like BU practice jerseys.... not all that surprising given the switch to Under Armor and the new AD's prior BU affiliation.

They would be ok if not for the red shoulders. Otherwise yeah they’re not good.if I remember correctly Colgate switched to under Armour and the alumni were pissed at the colors. I think the same is going on with RPI. Needs to be changed
Does it have to be bright cherry? Jesus Christ

In his time as a Bulldog, Giesbrecht posted a career .898 save percentage and a 3.35 goals against average in 62 games played. Not knowing anything about the defenses he played behind, I'm not qualified to render any opinions on the kid, but will welcome him to Troy !

He'll feel right at home here. Obviously shot quality matters, but at 32.5 shots per game it sounds like FSU's defense was similar to ours.
