RPI 2023 Off-season: We March Fourth Into the Off-season

Good lord, we’ve become a depressing bunch. Let’s look at transfers that were real undergrads (non-grads with more than a year of eligibility) under Smith. We’ve lost DiGrande, Dubinsky and Kjellberg. We’ve gained Gormall, Zieky, Bear, Walsh, Agnew, Strom, Heideman and Budy (didn’t include Addamo because he didn’t use his 2nd yr). Yes, I skipped those that left purely because of the shutdown and not for hockey reasons, but is there anyone that wouldn’t make that hockey trade?

When did Ralph enter the portal??

Also, every time I say or see "the portal" I keep imagining the green aliens from Toy Story.."The Clawwwwww...."

This is based upon 7 October 2023 for the start of next season.

In discussing the portal conundrum and RPI's future, one thing we haven't really discussed is using NIL deals. This certainly is one way we could make it more attractive for guys to stay in Troy. I know that a few ECAC women players have deals with BioSteel...and I am sure there are men as well ... I just haven't paid attention. I know that Ture Linden had a minor deal a few years back. Getting alumni /boosters and corporate partners engaged is the trick...which I believe would fall onto Sachi's plate.

I respectfully disagree Wicked. This responsibility falls onto the plate of whoever the individual player has as an agent, providing that player has "elite status" desirable to corporate sponsors. I'm not sure you would have alumni and boosters involved, unless of course they are a part of/owner of a business/corporation that could utilize the players ability to sell through name recognition and "star status".

However it would need to work, it should be explored....it certainly can't hurt. UAlbany had a tight end with an NIL with Mohawk Honda ...there's no reason that Muzzatti couldn't be doing the same with Rensselaer Honda -- as they are big sponsors and the family are longtime season ticket holders. It doesn't need to be earth shattering....but there are enough corporate sponsors at HFH that it could be utilized -- and that is where Sachi would enter into it...she handles the advertising and corporate sales.

Neither did I. But the ECAC's earned seeds 2nd, 7th, 13th and 15th.
Have to give Colgate props, beating Quinnipiac (twice this season) and Harvard.

Huge win for Colgate and Don Vaughn. Colgate’s win looks to have knocked out Alaska Fairbanks which was 15th in the Pairwise. Cornell and Merrimack were tied for 13th in the Pairwise, not sure what the tiebreaker would have been if Northern Michigan had won in overtime against Minnesota State
