RPI 2023-24: In Our 200th Year, We're Getting It Right

not only that, but when you’re up by 4 with less than 4 minutes left and you’re on the opponent’s 15 yard line, you at least attempt the field goal. You do not go for it in that situation, kick the FG, go up by 7. You would have won the game if the rest of the game played out like it did. Bad coaching in this game.

Worst decision I have seen in an RPI football game in many years. We had this one just about in the bag and just needed to tie the string off to close it. Ithaca is indeed a very good team with a huge offensive line but we played them as well as you could ever expect but just made too many mistakes.

Boys win in the shootout. Hotson is the real deal. Dog on a bone with skill. Tinling also very good Super skilled. Biggest surprise payant is not far behind hotson and tinling. He’s not a 4th liner at all. Same speed as Brackett but more skill. Regula is a beast

Agree 100% on the forwards. Will need to see more from CJ before forming an opinion. Underwhelming performance from him today - at best. Honestly hope he was under the weather.

Did the last five words (the ones in bold red) actually go out over the airwaves? I would be very impressed if they did as it was happening.

The announcers stated that shootouts don't count in OOC games, so the one on Saturday did not count. Of course the whole game (scrimmage) didn't count. In any case, I thus regard the shootout not to count for the equally unofficial thread-starting stats. Therefore I don't intend to start the thread for the Guelph game. So someone else should start it.

I was not on the air. I was in the middle of Hershey Park in line for the Comet roller coaster to go on with my daughter so I couldn’t hear what Kurt was saying. I probviously would have said it though.

Early odds for this week - Men's football RPI is a 34.5 point favorite over Buffalo State.

Women's Hockey - our ladies are a 0.5 goal favorite over Syracuse for the Friday game
Men's Hockey - we are a 1.5 goal underdog to Maine for the Thursday evening game

1.5 goal is a bit much imo

Anyone know anything about J. Lee's situation? Looks like he sat out the exhibition games this past weekend; not sure if it's injury related....

I’m sure that it’s injury related. A couple of weeks ago there was an event at HFH and every player was introduced and all skated on the ice with the exception of Lee who was in uniform but remained behind the bench. Hopefully it’s nothing serious and perhaps they didn’t want to take a chance playing him with 2 essentially exhibition games. We’ll see if he’s playing on Thursday…

i simply do not know enough about Maine to comment but the powers that be have us ranked as about #48 in Division I. Perhaps we can change their minds with a better showing in these two games. i liked some of what I saw in the exhibitions but I must admit I had hoped for more from our defense. We have added some offensive weapons but we will need a solidification of the defense to do well this year.

Get this. Received an X (formerly Twitter) at 1:10 A.M. on 10/9/2023 urging attendance at a 3 P.M. game on 10/8/2023 (10 hours earlier) and then join the Engineers for a post game skate!!!

There are no words. Guess you just had to receive the X to believe it.

One thing it does tells you is that, yes indeed, Karen, Perry, Scott and Norris have all already been gone for quite some time. So to a behind the scenes athletics budget/administrator guy everyone thought the world of but that I, quite frankly, never even heard of. Most recently, to that you can now add the departments "air cover" that flew the lead plane for most of this century.

Yes, the cracks in the foundation show. Especially the last one.

Agree with this sentiment... I liked Payant's game a lot.

I'm not on XTwitter so can't comment on the delayed messaging, but Sachi Vines is the Director of Marketing for RPI Athletics, so that messaging certainly originated from her office...
