We have to also remember how much money in endowment Harvard has. They can probably afford to allow almost all students to come to school for free so any and all athletes most certainly could qualify for some sort of funds. This may also apply to some of the other Ivy schools but as some have suggested, at Harvard you do get to say you went there and you get to wear a big H on your sweater.

Doc, I understand what you are saying, but from a strictly hockey perspective, it makes no sense.
They don't win championships, they are not on the professional radar, and they don't really place that many players in the pros.
If these kids are going for the education I get it, but 12 draft picks?

Fully understand the thought. But most of the time their draft picks are not 1st round guys (they have had some) and although have aspirations of pro hockey, only a limited number of those any lower than 1st or 2nd round have much chance of seeing the NHL. Even if they continue on in levels up to and including the AHL the career length is rather short and having that H on their resume could help them in the business world or getting into a professional school after. And again, if all their expenses at school are paid for them, as my folks used to say to me, free is never a bad thing. At RPI we have had over the years a fair number of NHL draftees (albeit not as high as Murley or Pirri) who never got close to seeing the NHL but had a good portion of their expenses in Troy covered and are now very successful in business or their careers.
I truly get your point though and Harvard is one of the exceptions but i think if we check over the past years, Yale and Princeton also get far more draft picks on their rosters than one would think given their overall hockey success.

Good news, but depends on what is open, unfortunately. A lot of restaurants in walking distance of the arena are not back to their pre-pandemic hours. I'd call ahead to the ones you are interested in to confirm. City Beer Hall or Hill Street between games, and a late Cafe Capriccio or Yono's dinner post game would be an ideal day for me. Hoping to catch the late game after work, but have some family stuff going on.

In the old days Jen and i used to go over to Jack's Oyster House either between or after the games. Not sure if they are even open after the past couple years and you did need to take out a personal loan to pay for dinner (they used to offer in addition to their regular menu, the 1912 official menu from the Titanic as an option to order from). I suppose this is why my dad had always advised to marry a rich girl who can cook.

Jack’s Oyster House is still open, but with limited hours. Wednesday through Saturday 5-10 PM. Wouldn’t be able to go between games today but post game still works. Can’t say whether or not they still have the Titanic menu to choose from…

Let’s hope that some defenseman are looking to transfer to Troy next season.
Right now, we only have 5 returnees (Kjellberg, Sertti, Klee, Agnew and Davies). Baxter was a grad transfer, Johnson is in the transfer portal, and now Helsen and Hallbauer have hung up their skates. Smolinski will make 6 and Al-Azem would be 7 if he comes early.
Should be interesting to see what happens in the months ahead.

Is that new information on Hallbauer? In the last Talkin' Neers podcast it was indicated that Hallbauer would return for his Covid make-up season.

I'm not sure where I'll be on July 1st, but I'll be going out for drinks to celebrate wherever I am, that's for sure
