Hopefully, whatever happens, it is the same for all D-I hockey programs. We are in worse trouble for the future if many other schools play and we don't, e.g., Hockey East. It's even worse if other ECAC schools play and we don't.
I heard the Ivy League commissioner on ESPN radio the other day and she was non--committal on the fate their winter sports. Only that it was under review with a decision in the fall.

I have the same concern. I do think that if intercollegiate competition is able to happen, exceptions to the campus population rules will be made for athletes on the competing teams.

From the Ivy League press release: "...“Practice and other athletic training opportunities for enrolled student-athletes will be permitted provided they are structured in accordance with each institution’s procedures and applicable state regulations."

I was referring to intercollegiate competition the winter and spring seasons, if they happen. I think there will be exceptions made for athletes if those seasons are allowed to happen.

If the Ivies don't play, hard to see nearby schools in Hockey East swimming against that tide, unless we get some good news about COVID in the coming weeks.

I wonder how they would work the travel partner pairings during the portion of the schedule that the Ivies wouldn't be playing.

Clarkson and St. Lawrence, I suppose, would remain as travel partners.

But then, do you leave RPI partnered with Union and have Colgate and Quinnipiac be the third pair?

Or do you pair Union with Colgate and RPI with Quinnipiac?

Troy to Hamden isn't much different than Princeton to Hamden.

It seems that we are running out of things to say. Don't let covid 19 end this thread.
It is the only link to RPI hockey and we need to keep it going until the Engineers are back on the ice again.
Lets go red!!!!!!!

Not sure you'd change the travel partners, but instead just have byes, like you would for an odd number of teams. ECAC wants a balanced schedule which means 22 games, and the Ivies have 9 weeks to complete it, while the others have an extra 5 weeks, taking off Thanksgiving and the two weeks around Christmas. The Ivies are going to have to have mid-week games to make it happen.

In a league where everybody makes the playoffs, I'm not sure how important it is to have a balanced 22-game schedule.

If it proves impossible for everybody to play two games against each other ECAC opponent, they may just have to set playoff seedings on the basis of winning percentage in the games that are actually played.
