Re: RPI 2018 Off-Season: The Hunt for Red October

They must have updated it since the time I posted, because there was originally no USMA game, and UCONN was listed as a home/home. I can understand them moving that, as traveling 2.5 hours for a home/home seems a bit much. Very nice that they'd like for us to play in Hartford, and given the AHL plays weekends, not to mention the Mayor's Cup, probably a good thing it's when it is.

Good to see it is a full schedule.

I had expected to see Canisius on our schedule finally. I guess it could not be worked out. Nice to see Army back however.

two month road trip...uggh

Better than what it would have been if AGC was still here from what I heard in Ithaca, which was 12 home games. Plus, it's just one month away now that the USMA game is where it is.

It's not too bad of a schedule. No five-in-two-weeks, sure it's a little shifted towards away but plenty of home/home with HEA which is a good sign of the future to come, and FlagDUDETTE is excited about wanting to head to South Bend again.

I'm just glad our coach really wants to push for having reciprocal deals.

Canisius is a two-game series deal without a travel partner (we MAY try to do a split home/home similar to what CCT has done this and last years), not to mention they only get 6 non-cons. I seem to recall reading earlier on our thread that it wasn't possible this year, but to look for it next year.

I also recall someone posting that about Census. ;)

A weekend home/home with UConn is roughlt comparable to one with UMass. Instead we have the equivalent in Harvard (away) on Friday and Army (home) on Saturday but with even longer travel time. Either way it is still far easier than the Ivy League basketball pairing that requires an overnight trip between Ithaca and Manhattan.

The schedule also incorrectly lists UConn in Hartford as a neutral site game. The XL Center has been the male Huskies home since they joined HE. The on-campus Freitas Ice Arena doesn't come close to meeting league standards.

Even if it wasn't the normal spot, UConn is still very much the host of the game, so the RatingsPI will be reflected accordingly. Similar to when we played Sacred Heart in Bridgeport.
