Anyone know whether Brady Wiffen will be coming in as a freshman or sophomore next season?

The way partial qualification works is that you lose a year of eligibility, so he has three. Therefore, he'll be a "sophomore" in terms of eligibility.

Re: RPI 2016 Off Season thread: A Drivel-free Summer

What does "partial qualification" mean? Why wouldn't this be a redshirt year and he have 4 years of hockey eligibility left?

Lugnut posted this link last year http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/sacl/genrel/auto_pdf/ncaa-requirements.pdf. it means that his SAT and grades together were not high enough to be a full qualifier, but not too low not to qualify at all.

It states that he only will have three years of eligibility. IIRC, SA tried to appeal that part.

I'm pretty sure you can't appeal a portion of a "suspension"; either all or none.

However, because he was partial, he was allowed to practice with the team. Not sure if he actually did that or not.

Re: RPI 2016 Off Season thread: A Drivel-free Summer

Schedules thread reports we're getting a return trip from UML.

Only four more games left unknown as to who/where (when is still unknown on a majority); we do not have a WCHA opponent declared yet, but have one in all the other leagues (including independent).

Re: RPI 2016 Off Season thread: A Drivel-free Summer

Thanks for the clarification. Regarding the NC schedule, what teams are lined up already?

We've been compiling it on the 2016-17 Schedules thread.

We definitely know about the Mayor's Cup (NC Union). Also, Hall of Fame game at North Dakota (I don't know which date). There's also a home game vs. RIT (Weekend of the 22nd, but don't know which date; Union will also be playing them that weekend), going to Arizona State, Ohio State's coming to town (we'll see if something other than a 5-5 tie happens :p), we return a trip to Boston College, and obviously I mentioned UMass Lowell. There are still 4 non-conference games left to determine (Hall of Fame is an official exemption from the 34-game limit). The league released the non-travel-partner league schedule a while back so we still need to schedule 2 vs. Union, and one of the Harvard games falls on the Saturday before the Beanpot, so it is likely that that game will move (although it's the second week and Harvard has been playing three in a week on the 2nd week, so it's not a guarantee).

Thanks, I'm a newbie to this. What's the Hall of Fame game? Will they only play one vs North Dakota?

The Hall of Fame Game is one special game each year that is sponsored by the USA Hockey Hall of Fame. The teams that are involved changes from year to year. It is specifically called out in the NCAA Division I By-laws as being an exempt game.
