RPI 2016 Off Season thread: A Drivel-free Summer

Re: RPI 2016 Off Season thread: A Drivel-free Summer

I wonder if the RIT game is Oct 22nd. The Arizona State away games are Nov 25 & 26. I thought I saw Union home Oct 21 against RIT and the 22nd against UMass. I'm thinking maybe that is possibly UMass Lowell and they would both be in the CD on that weekend but that is purely a guess.

I don't see any reason why RIT would take two trips out to the CD, so I'd assume so; thanks. Would you be willing to post any additional information about Union's schedule on that Schedules thread? I've put together a sort of central repository for that information the last few years until sites like USCHO and CHS get everything set.

It may not be SAT or grade related. Not sure, but I think he could have 1200 SATs and a 3.5 GPA, but still not qualify because he didn't take all the core courses required.
At any rate, it will be nice to get confirmation that he is eligible and ready to play in October.
He should be ready to jump right in after a year of practicing and assimilating with the team.

Re: RPI 2016 Off Season thread: A Drivel-free Summer

We've been compiling it on the 2016-17 Schedules thread.

We definitely know about the Mayor's Cup (NC Union). Also, Hall of Fame game at North Dakota (I don't know which date). There's also a home game vs. RIT (Weekend of the 22nd, but don't know which date; Union will also be playing them that weekend), going to Arizona State, Ohio State's coming to town (we'll see if something other than a 5-5 tie happens :p), we return a trip to Boston College, and obviously I mentioned UMass Lowell. There are still 4 non-conference games left to determine (Hall of Fame is an official exemption from the 34-game limit). The league released the non-travel-partner league schedule a while back so we still need to schedule 2 vs. Union, and one of the Harvard games falls on the Saturday before the Beanpot, so it is likely that that game will move (although it's the second week and Harvard has been playing three in a week on the 2nd week, so it's not a guarantee).

That is FANTASTIC NEWS about the team coming to my home state of AZ for the first time ever!! Looking forward to both games and meeting any RPI fans that are planning to make the trip!

I thought originally that it could be that he did not take a required course (e.g., as a Canadian, he didn't take US history), but the document that was reposted in post 333, states pretty clearly that to be a partially qualifier you must have taken the 13 required courses.

I see the NBA (dribble/drivel) has just adopted to allow advertisements on “unis” starting in 17-18. Could the NHL be far behind? Many speculated the reasoning behind the rule 2 yrs ago to keep the sweaters untucked was to get the players used to it for when the time comes for the ads.

Today is 13 April 2016. There are 171 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 1 October 2016 for the start of next season.

I wonder how long until the uniform ads become animated? Most of the highway billboards around here now show a succession of ads on a giant video screen. Each ad is static, at least; probably a highway safety regulation. At the local gas stations, they now have video ads at every pump.

My dentist has ads on the ceiling which I see whenever I am lying down.

Only other thing confirmed for Union is New Years Eve at 4pm vs North Dakota. As of now the rest of their games are on the road which will leave them with 14 home games, 19 on the road and the Mayors cup. On RPI pretty much everything on here is all that I have. The Arizona St games just read "Thanksgiving Weekend" so its possible they could be Saturday-Sunday.

ASU is away for football on that Friday playing the Wildcats, so I can see where you're going with that one.

How to kill the Mayor's Cup - put it on a Thursday.

Won't be UMASS Lowell; they're already full. However, it seems a safe assumption UML will be at RPI on the 21st of October, but I'm not entirely sure; it's just a guess.

Ohio State will probably be either during Union's finals week, or over Christmas, unless the Union series is split up. They're fairly full at the beginning of October.

Some of the NCHC teams did a full release today, and we're not on those dockets. Wonder what else we'll get...

Re: RPI 2016 Off Season thread: A Drivel-free Summer

Paul Midghall announced RPI hockey games on WGY 810 AM starting at 8:10 PM in the 1970's. He was a big RPI hockey fan. I think he was a VP at Norton Co. in Watervliet.

Yes I remember Grand Marshall week with beer and strippers. I had "Ma" Houston for Calculus III and "Pa" Houston for Calculus I or II. DiPrima for Differential Equations.

That's a bad guess and not a safe assumption. Lowell will be at home that weekend against St. Lawrence and Clarkson.
