RPI 2013/14 Part III: Maximum Overdrivel

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part III: Maximum Overdrivel

Don't take it personally. In your case, it's just a matter of you being a congenital liar and a drama queen. Has zero to do with your perspective.

When people are trying to declare who my deceased father is in tags, it turns personal.

Don't look at me, slappy. You've made plenty of enemies around here. Maybe you should ask yourself why.

Edit: At least you don't deny that you're a congenital liar and a drama queen.

Just my mind rambling a bit-since we are so short handed-better to have a game that is mostly 5 on 5? Or better to have a ton of penalties and 30 minutes of 4 on 4 and 5 on 4 hockey? Also, better a quick moving game that has a lot of flow and is free of whistles and face offs and over in 2 hours? or better to stall with icings and other whistles and a 3 hour draggy game? Just passing time waiting for the music on WRPI.

Given we only have 11 forwards, seems like we're going to try to squeak out an ugly one.

Personally I would like to see a 5 on 5 game with a slower pace. No need to go run and gun when short a forward.
Who made out the lineup card? Was Appert allowed to do that or was it one of the other coaches?

I don't know what it is about the depth on this team but it needs to step up. I know it sucks when four good players are out but Scotty played well in net again and we just can't generate any offense. Just a few chances that are few and far between, and a nice little flurry in the 3rd period. I had this game on my laptop and the Union - St.Lawrence game on the main computer (since St.Lawrence shows their games for free) and they looked pretty good in the win over Union. RPI will have their hands full tomorrow and I expect a good game. Let's go Red, get on the right path heading into the game against Yale.

I thought Diebold played very well for RPI in the nets. Easily could have been a 6 or 7 to 0 game. RPI offense was definitely lacking and they took too many penalties. Not looking forward to playing you guys with your full compliment in a couple of weeks.

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part III: Maximum Overdrivel

Suspensions are over. Let's get back to playing the way we played last weekend (minus the brawls). An important game tonight as we are currently in 8th place, only 2 points ahead of SLU.

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part III: Maximum Overdrivel

Can someone explain to me why RPI only dressed 11 forwards? I saw Wood at the game - he wasn't suspended?

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part III: Maximum Overdrivel

They want to play all four of the suspended players tonight.

Are you saying that the team can bring as many players as it wants, but it just can't play them? If they had an able body in the stands, why was he not on the ice for the game?

To add on to Flagdude, because I also didn't understand this until this weekend. If they had dressed 18 skaters yesterday, they could only bring in 3 suspended players tonight. In ECAC you can only dress 23 people a weekend, including goalies. So by having 17+2 last night, 4 new people can play tonight.

Thanks for the explanation.
Now I need the ECAC to tell me what the purpose of that rule is.

Be aware that the ECAC will make an exception in order for a team to comply with NCAA regulations should one of the two goaltenders fall to injury, as we had to exercise that in the recent past, and I assume they would only be able to change two eligible skaters. That is the only exception to the rule.

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part III: Maximum Overdrivel

Good luck. The league won't even release the rules to the general public.

I was under the impression that rule was NCAA driven vs ECAC because it aligns with the travel roster mandate of 23. I mentioned in a previous post that I believe when school is not in session (dorms are closed, cafeteria's are not open, etc) that all players are able to travel because of those circumstances but the 23 rule still applies for playing -- yes/no?

There is no NCAA rule for this. The only travel restriction through the NCAA is in terms of the village in that you can't arrive until 48 hours before your game, and you must leave within 24 hours of the end of the game. Sometimes waivers are granted, such as a couple of the nWCHA teams that went to Alaska for two straight weekends this year when classes weren't in session. This is a D-I bylaw and doesn't apply to just hockey. Although, I'm a little surprised, with the advent of technology, that online courses aren't considered. Granted, the rule was written when this wasn't a possibility.

The only reasoning I can think of is for "fairness" in terms of roster sizes, as it could be justified that you were playing an entirely different team if unlimited substitutions between games were allowed.
