RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

Given that York's return is 50-50 at best (I happen to think he's headin' out)...anyone care to hazard a WAG as to who RPI might bring in? Do we think that Seth's ability to offer a kid a chance to compete right away might cause a kid to jump early to RPI? How about Dubuque's #2 Jackson Teichroeb (formerly of O'ville) ? Perhaps a kid out of the BCHL? Thoughts?

Red Head: You've seen Orangeville play a few times, did you see keeper Pucciarelli (3.5 GPA)? He's got a good frame and has respectable number on a pretty bad team...he's been on the NHL CSB players to watch list from early this season: "...Pucciarelli has managed to make 152 saves on 174 shots he’s faced thus far... on a team that has just three wins out of 12 is impressive. Count on Pucciarelli to be a key component to any clubs back end with his tremendous reflexes and lateral movement this young man is projected to be selected in the later rounds of the Entry Draft."

I know, I know, shoot me for WA speculation, but I need something to take my mind off of yesterday...

Wicked-I am of the opinion that York is smart enough to stay put for one more year. He is simply not ready and can make use of one more year of NCAA action. Hopefully his performance against NDak has him itching for a rematch next year in the tournament where he can show that he does not allow 6 goals against. If he does decide to leave- a la Pirri and D'Amigo-then best wishes and off he goes. Merriam has shown me that he is more than an adequate replacement(he was just light's out at Princeton this year) and knowing SA, he is already on the hunt for another candidate. Any oe know what has happened with Altschuller?

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

No doubts whatsoever. JL's league and team have put too many excellent players into the ECAC for me to think otherwise. As much hand wringing as some have done over his size, Andrew Calof's frosh year at PRinceton should put an end to those. Calof is identical in size (if not a wee bit smaller), younger and was less prolific then JL in the same league.

All indications are that JL has all the tools needed to tear up the ECAC. All that's left is getting him in the student locator.:D:D

Write this down right now-Laliberte and Neal will replace the point totals for Chase and Tyler (perhaps not the first year, but certainly by the second year). Everything else coming in will be additional gravy offensively. I am not sure who will replace Brutlag-he has impressed me every time I see him with his grit and determination even late in games when we got blown out(see NDAK). On defense losing Foss and Kennedy-I think our incoming frosh combined with a year of maturation for our current freshmen and we are far ahead of the game. I think a pairing of LeBeouf and Koudys would be a big improvement over the 2 we are losing.

Can't say it any better than that Doc. Seeing Higgs, Rogic, Dolan Bailen out there on the PP gives me hope... add in JL and that's a whole lotta skill and fire power to defend.

If York is gone, theres no doubt in my mind we'll see Kasdorf in the fall. He's a '92 so he's college ready. I would like to see him in juniors again next season, preferably in the USHL or BCHL but its looking like that might not be an option.

I hope you're right. I'm not hopeful though. Given that it was being discussed immediately after the loss tells me that Columbus and York's "advisor" (agent) have been active...Remember that agents only get paid when their players sign, so we know which way they are leaning...if Columbus is ready for York, then that will be very tough for Seth to compete with, IMO. As far as I know, Altshueller is still technically available, though there's been some speculation that he's MJ bound. If Seth has a chance at immediate playing time to sell, the calculus may change for some of the keepers sitting on the fence.

Once again, RH keeps us on the straight and narrow when it comes to recruits. Nice work.

Although I am not as certain as you are, I also expect to see Kasdorf if York leaves.

As to Altshuller, as long as he hasn't signed elsewhere, he is a possibility, but at this point he seems to be an unlikely possibility. As he won't even turn 17 until the summer, it is most doubtful he would come this year.

Understood and sensible-but my information is that he is the one to get if he is available. He is going to be very sought after, but we are now an NCAA tournament team making an offer to him.;)

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

I don't disagree Doc... having a capable #2 is my concern.

My concern also. That and how well our new defensemen will fit in. We are going to be one young team on defense, and I always regard defense the key. Naturally I have concerns about all aspects of the team but the thing that bothers me least is how well the LMN trio will perform on offense. If we do have an offense that can put up numbers like Yale or Union next couple of years, then our defense can be forgiven if they have an ocassional lapse. This year we had little margin for error and ended up losing some close games and OT games that a team that scores would not have. I will miss Chase (he was an exciting player for us) but I think we have the incoming frosh to overcome that loss.

Most certainly, but isn't he just a junior this year?

I wonder if RPI is still interested in John Keeney from Omaha? This was posted on the Wisconsin thread back in November:

...John Keeney was a kid I thought we might look at from Omaha, he's having a great season but we aren't going in that direction. He looks like an RPI lean with CC and Quinnipiac in the picture.

He would most certainly be able to come next season as well.

You may have hit the nail on the head.
