RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

Yorkie certainly seems to be caught between a rock & a hard place. Garon is an UFA after this year w/CBJ, if he leaves the dominoes start to fall. I don't believe Allen is ready for the NHL but CBJ aren't going to sit back & wait on a 6th rd. pick, which would push Allen further down the depth chart depending on who they bring in. Remember also, Allen has had 6 concussions so far to deal with...no wonder he gets so bent when opponents take liberties with him in net...of course such liberties would have a price tag to pay at the next level. Tough decision for sure. Hope his "family advisor" has better advice than JD'A's....or BP's.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

I think that statement is slightly disingenuous. It has been almost a dead-even split throughout the year (although Morris has certainly put up the better numbers and is half a year younger).

IMHO: Having followed both goalies closely, each of you has a point...Teichrob was signed as "the other" import out of Saints camp, prompting the Quinns to de-commit from RPI. Morris came on board and took the starting position early on. Recently the workload has been split but I seem to sense the tougher assignments have gone to Morris. I have a nagging suspicion that Teichrob may have had an injury (easier to conceal with a goalie) and Morris performed above and beyond (the kid is a gymnast and a fireplug...would have been fun to see him play for RPI). Teichrob has come on strong the second half...tons of confidence coming out of the net. I hope Monty and Seth have discussed him and I'm very sure Seth knew enough intel leading up to the York current situation that he has what he needs from his assistants to make an offer if needed.

I'm too new to the York subject to know his history and was unaware of his concussions. That really makes it difficult to decide what to do. But the common sense issue is how much signing is worth vs. a degree from RPI...I think the degree from RPI is worth more in the long run. His advisor doesn't make $ unless and until York signs. His longevity as a pro is unknown. It's such a gut check moment for him and his family. Hopefully they planned ahead of time different scenarios so they have an idea. I hope he gets the right advice, no matter which decision he makes.

I mentioned in an earlier post the problem he would face about the concussions-I was not aware he had more than one at the time I posted. That certainly enters into the equation. With these things being cummulative-one more level III and his entire pro career might go away. This has got to be a tough one. Leaving after 3 years however, is quite different than what J'DA and BP did. If the money is offerred after 3 years, often times it does make sense to go. Cavosie left after 3 and had very little success. Brad Tapper left after 3 and had more if you add in the NHL and AHL time along with the years spent in the German elite league where he was paid very well. He did very well financially with his decision. Whatever his decision, I wish York well and do not feel at all the same as I did about Pirri and D'Amigo leaving early.

It would seem to me, that an offer of any kind would be seriously considered by York. I too did not know about his concussion history. Take the money if they offer it.
It would not be unprecedented to come back a couple of years later and finish his degree.
If the pro career works out, the degree might not be as important.
Good luck to York whatever his decision.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

Interestingly, on the day that the men's team loses a goalie, Beyond the Dashers has added a second women's goalie recruit. A coincidence? (Actually, I just noticed that BtD had mentioned it two days ago.)

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

I for one wouldnt mind seeing Tie Domi walking around the field house while watching his son...would make Troy a safer place for a few years. Go get em coach!!!!
That would be awesome :D Although last I heard back in October from USHR, the schools in the mix were BC, BU, Michigan, Harvard and Yale. Of course that was 5 months ago and things could have changed.

The Domi report is the 11th down the page.
http://ushr.com/news/20101001

"We're focused on five school right now," Domi says. "Boston College, Boston University, Michigan, Harvard, and Yale. We'll see what happens."

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

I decided to break out Haggerty's stats by the type of opposition. I probably should have done this all along.

I am not sure what "other" represents and don't feel like going through a lot of box scores to figure it out. It might be the preseason USHL tourney.
