Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. III

Not a real good day, at least on the scoresheets, for RPI's recruits on Friday with a combined 6-0-0-0-10 line. (JL did not have a game, and Haggerty did not dress.)

I guess not  I have a feeling Haggerty might be one of the wounded for the U-18's. They had to make 3 callups from Alexandria in the NAHL because of injuries and with Grimaldi playing with the U-20 team. Last night they skated with only 9 forwards and 7 dmen, if Haggerty is injured hopefully it isnt something serious.

I agree. I certainly didn't expect him to be benched after his best game offensively this season.

I too would be more comfortable with two. This year we could always drop Brutlag back in an emergency, but we won't have that luxury next season. I have no idea whom SA is after, and FWIW Zanardo doesn't even appear on Heisenberg's list.
For those that are interested, there just happens to be a writeup about "BigZ" in the S-F today :) He has definte interest in playing NCAA, the reason for his move to Cornwall.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. III

On Saturday, the Cornwall Colts defeated the Kanata Stallions 10-2. Jacob Laliberté had two goals and three assists (same as Thursday). He wasn't even named #3 star. http://pointstreak.com/prostats/boxscore.html?gameid=1318768

Laliberté's line is now 37-31-41-72-14.

I guess they either figured 5 points was rather routine for him or that only being involved in 50% of the scoring was just not a good day.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. III

I don't think that it is anyone's style. I don't know of any defenseman who has played more than a few games without a penalty.

In NHL history only 2 defensemen ever won the Lady Byng trophy-Bill Quackenbush and Red Kelly-I saw Kelly play when I was just a kid and even he took a few penalties (but not that many) Quackenbush played an entire season in the 40's however without taking a penalty. The Red Kelly i saw in the 50's though I thought was a forward yet the NHL listed a Red Kelly as a defenseman that won the Lady Byng.

They gave the first star to a guy who got a hat trick. Prior to those three goals, he had just two assists in 26 games.

The other two stars went to the Spink twins, who were each involved in the same five goals that JL was. The three of them must have been passing the puck around all day. JL is, at this moment, just 5 points out of the league scoring lead.

My gut feeling, not based upon any knowledge of the situation, is that Bradley won't arrive in Troy until 2012, and he will take a greater part in Youngstown's play next year.

I was being facetious-as you know.:D

I figured as much, but one can never be certain. :) It is rather odd for a player to not score any goals for 26 games and then get a hat trick. He also got his first penalty of the season. (There's still hope for Bradley. ;) )

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. III

Well reports from the WaP podcast today say SA flew out someplace for his recruiting trip this week. Since there wasnt any USHL games happening all week, Im gonna say he was in western Canada someplace. Let the speculation begin...:D

Ill have to listen to the podcast again, I didnt catch what night SA was watching the game. Might have been Tuesday or Wednesday night.
