Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. II

Babo, nice catch. Not only beautiful but smart. This quote interested me from Erik Johnson

"The only downside is that college doesn't let you go to NHL training camps," Johnson said. "If college would let you go and try out for the pro teams, it would be a more ideal destination for more players."

They can go to summer camps like our guys did? But they can't go the preseason training camp? Am I getting this right? Defer to experts. If so maybe something Paul Kelly can work on this. I like that the Hockey News is doing more college stuff and the 8 page pull out. Maybe Paul Kelly is getting some traction.
If I undertand it correctly, they are allowed to go to NHL prospect/rookie camps, provided they pay their own way - airfare, hotel, etc.

(Dovetailing with the regular season thread...)...I wish SA would turn his attention to Morris on DBQ...having watched this young man pull rabbits out of hats in front of his opponents, I'm convinced he could provide a succession plan to the York Corporation. Age is an issue, but I'm just giving him my vote of confidence...

Not counting walkons, SA has recruited two goalies, York and Merriam. Admittedly, that is a very small sample, but I suspect that he regards size as a signifciant asset for goalies, just as he looks for speed in forwards.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. II

On Sunday, the Cornwall Colts defeated the Carleton Place Canadians 4-2. Jacob Laliberté had a powerplay goal and two assists. By my count, before the empty net goal, JL had either a goal or an assist on 8 straight Cornwall goals. He was named #1 star. http://pointstreak.com/prostats/boxscore.html?gameid=1318738

Laliberté's line is now 32-26-34-60-12.

I don't have any idea who is on Seth's short list for keepers. Morris (5'10 190) sure has gotten peeps attention with his performance so far. (9-1, 3SO, 1.48GA .943SV%) It's worth noting that he attracted some attention playing for Little Caesar's & last year in the EJHL.

Besides, he'd get to keep the excellent paint job (think Pink Floyd) on his goalie mask if he came to Troy.:D
