Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. II

If in fact we are looking at dmen in USHL a couple names I wouldnt mind seeing pop up are:
Barrett Kaib- Hard hitting dman from the Under-18 team, also a teammate with Haggerty.
I guess I can cross Kaib of my list of potential recruits, he's heading to PC. Union was also in the mix along with Mich Tech.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. II

I forgot to mention this after the tournament - does Justin Smith have a younger brother who looks just like him? Just prior to the 2nd intermission, the players not dressed walked by us on their way to the tunnel. Included with them was a kid in jeans who looked just like a younger Justin from about 25 feet away. Possible recruit, or maybe just family in town?
...no, it wasn't Smith's brother. I'm not familiar w/ncaa guidelines for recruiting so I won't mention his name. I'll leave it to several veteran posters, who have knowledge of such to post it....you know who you are ;)

It wouldn't be the first time we used eyewitness accounts at an RPI game to start discussion. Jesus.

I don't know how Smith-Junior's identity was determined. If it was determined independently, then Alex Dell would approve. :p

Let's end this nonsense, OK? I saw the recruit. I heard his name mentioned at the Field House. Compared the picture online and found it to be a match for the face I saw. It's Riley Bourbonnais. He plays at the Berkshire School, he's from Rochester, and he's a goal scoring bruiser.

There. Thanks for ruining the fun. It's almost a prerequisite nowadays with you. Every time I think about returning to post regularly.

By the way, I should point out that your inability to determine Laliberte's academic status hasn't stopped you from openly pontificating on his private affairs regularly. Why is this different?

This name I have heard before from another source-he is indeed a scorer and would be a nice addition.

Heisenberg rates him very highly - right up there with Terrence Wallin (who we narrowly lost out on to UML) - and other top Hockey East recruits.

From what I have heard, we have a lot of competition for him, but the fact that he used one of his visits in Troy meanrs that we are in the hunt. That may be more already than with the Spink twins.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. II

According to Chris Heisenberg, Riley Bourbonnais is the highest rated noncommitted eastern hockey player for 2011. (Edit: as knsmith stated.) He appears to have grown since Heisenberg tabbed him at 5'10".

Here is a selection of material on him. There is a lot around.

Riley Bourbonnais-Very fast forward with good skills

Page from last year when he played for Maksymum http://pointstreak.com/prostats/playerpage.html?playerid=3128366&seasonid=5094&numgames=all I am somewhat surprised that he is playing for a prep school this year.

One scouting source that had a chance to monitor Riley Bourbonnais over the last four months was laconic in his assessment of the NY top rated forward: "I really liked him," stated the source…

Good to hear another top notch recruit in town for a visit. Hope Seth and crew can put the full court press on for him...good size with skill and a bit of an edge...the Doc D trifecta! I will try to catch his game at AA tomorrow. FWIW - Bourbonnais participated in the USA U17 Select Camp in Rochester this past summer (as did D recruit Chris Bradley, and goalie target Dalton Izyk)
