Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. II

Some news from USHR:

Indiana Ice goaltender Casey DeSmith recently made a commitment to a HE school but others in contention for DeSmith were RPI and W. Michigan.

Thanks for the info. Where'd he commit to?

I wonder if Appert would have envisioned him as York's replacement. Chris Heisenberg does not rate him highly. DeSmith does have great stats to start the year, though.

I would imagine that Appert will have great difficulty bringing in a goalie in 2011. DeSmith is 19 already so it seems unlikely he would have been waiting until 2012. Perhaps that was part of the problem with recruiting him.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. II

Well, there goes another chance of us getting a player in the WJAC. (DeSmith is on the US team.)

I suspect that is exactly correct.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. II

On Friday, the Dubuque Fighting Saints lost to the Cedar Rapids Roughriders 7-3. Luke Curadi had an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and then a fighting major penalty along with an instigator minor and a game ejection. http://ushl.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=1341335

Curadi's line is now 7-1-4-5-31.

as well as on the ice for 2 and in the box for 2 more. both when game was up for grabs.....

I assume that he was in the penalty box for only one goal, unless the USHL rule is different from other leagues', as someone else would have served the penalties that went along with his ejection. :p

Correct. After trying to fight a kid 5'10 from Norway, one of his teamates had to miss icetime and sit in the box. The Cedar Rapids kid acted accordingly, took the penalty, came back and scored a goal and was one of the 3 stars of the game. so he was on the ice for 2, in the box for one and screwed one of his teammates who had to sit in the box for the other.

Further correction, was on the ice for 3, one was while they were on the PP and gave the other team a shorthanded goal.
