Re: RPI 2011-12 Season: Posts on a Message Board

Did someone say something about Union to would be a good fit in Hockey East? Have to admit I got a chuckle out of that one. I think either SA or AD Knowlton said on Ken Schott's video, that the ECAC had in a sense strengthened its position by maintaining (for now at least) the status quo. Frankly that had sort of occurred to me as well. Not sure if it makes sense though. I think that the loss of RPI would be a big one for the ECAC, but the as yet not emergent threat of an Ivy breakoff could be a real game changer for the league. Of course I realize most of you are already looking at the ECAC in the rearview mirror. :(

W1 first things first. Let me guess who Ken Schott, Paul Stewart and Hagwell will have reffing the game this year at your joint...Bryan Hicks. Have you gotten the kid with the flashlight...I mean spotlight...a bigger flashlight..I mean spotlight. At least the beer at johnk's is cold. I will miss hating you guys :p

You're improving. :)

Re: RPI 2011-12 Season: Posts on a Message Board

Understand that if we end up in Hockey East, those days will sadly be gone and it won't really even be our fault. Hockey East threads tend to get overrun (with great frequency) with fans of opposing team jutting in with uneducated opinions (always negative) and meaningless trash talk. You could, for instance, post a nice, insightful analysis of Zach Schroeder's offensive techniques, and some other fan would butt in with the intellectual equivalent of "whatever, he sucks and RPI sucks," just longer.

The price of progress?

YOU could, for instance, leave your alter ego behind and post your insightful analysis of players with one voice, and leave your silly, unnecessary "Chucky" self to the fans of opposing teams...you have no idea how much respect Red Cloud detracts from you.

Neither has a building suitable for ECAC play , never mind HE...nor any intentions of building one....but I'm sure that just skipped your mind.

Dont forget, Holy Cross turned down ECAC.

Unions rink is better than Merrimacks and they have a womens program, which MC does not

Maybe HC only had 96 tournament success but that is more than RPI can say, zro success in over 25 years, zero goals in over 25 years and worst relative ECAC tournament performance of any team in league over past 2 years, this during a supposed "rise" period.

Ralph, 3 or 4 posters posting a combined 250,000 times + is not a "lot" of posters. It is 3 or 4 people who feel they speak for the 3500+/- who show up at each game.

For the next 3-4 years, Union will finish better every time vs RPI

I'll only speak to the point where you mentioned my name. I, for one, speak only for myself, and I rarely attend RPI games as others will vouch. There are a lot more than than 3 or 4 posters who post on RPI threads (not counting you and other non-RPI fans of course). The fact that many do not choose to post on Cafe threads and/or have not posted here for over 10 years causes an imbalance in post counts. The number of posts is not directly related to quality of posts although they could be a slight positive correlation.

Possible, but he would have to show vast improvement in his skating ablities, such as lateral movement, pivots and overall foot speed.

His hockey sense/decision making is real good.
Whaaaaaaat ! are you talking about...PK has all the tools to go as far as He wishes....further more he has no glaring deficiencies in either his physical abilities or his talent level (including skating)....Is He at Nick Lidstroms level yet I say not but He has 20+ years to get to that point...so there is no basis for what you said !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Re: RPI 2011-12 Season: Posts on a Message Board

I thought PK and Bo Dolan were both tentative at times and did not want to take many chances offensively which might put them in a bad defensive position. I agree with TB that PK has the tools and look for big years from both him and Dolan. Any thoughts on starting lines for Sat? Power play units?

In honor of Eleeza Cox, today is 29 September 2011. There are 2 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 1 October for the start of next season.

AD has touched on an interesting point here. This cheer is going to sound really stupid if we are in HE - even dumber than it does now during OOC road games. For those wondering who our rival will be, you'll know it when you can replace Clarkson with someone else.

After a while, the cheer would probably die. IIRC from the history of it, it was started because someone thought Clarkson doing this (except they insert the name of the team they are playing) was stupid, and it would be funny to also do it, except to say "Clarkson" every time.

Cheers go through lifespans, just like any other fad. I know "Skate Shoot Score" isn't used anymore (mostly because whenever it were to be used, we'd never score). Perhaps the First Church, CCM, or Red Army will come up with some new ones that will work their way across HFH.

Hate to disagree with you but it is 3/4 who post 99.9% of the posts. Period

You are a very good contributor and write stuff RPI fans want to read. Did you notice the same 2/3 who took over the Hockey east thread and also try to take over the Union threads. Patronizing away to both

RPI is a very good program, a program that has limited if any success over past 25 years. If on the rise is 5th and 6th with immedioate first rd losses to lowest seeded team in league, than what is MC? The new BC? RPI is not on the rise until they win, period.

Union is on the rise. Out of total ashes, won the regular season crown and made the NCAA tourn for first time ever. Will be higher in league every year for the next several years.

When RPI wins, than they are on the rise. 6th to 5th and first rd loss to last placed team is not a RISE. Than losing first ncaa game 6-0 after backing in is not on the rise

Last year RPI was ranked around 15th in NCAA at end. They are starting out around 18 in polls, apparently the coaches etc dont see the rise. Union is ranked 11th...

I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at.
