Re: RPI 2011-12 Season: Posts on a Message Board

One of the TV networks last season (during the NCAAs I think) was broadcasting essentially what this multiviewer is online, in real time with the actual game broadcast on TV. The multiviewer carried the audio chatter among the camera crews while the game broadcast had the actual game audio and commentary. It was one of the coolest things I had seen in quite some time. I would love to see that video made available for all games; I'm hoping it doesn't just get called a mistake and dropped for future ones.

Yeah, I think that was CCHA? I remember that as well and REALLY enjoyed it. We've seized the mistake and will be offering both HD game and HD Multiviewer with intercom chatter for the CoCo series. We may also stream the multiviewer live, as one could argue it doesn't break the B2/A1 contract.

What bit rate do you need to get the HD to work well?

Fiddle with the bitrates until it doesn't stutter. Higher bitrates take additional CPU to decode. If it's stuttering, it's a CPU problem; if it's freezing, it's a bandwidth problem. The bitrates shown should correlate directly with internet speeds.

Didn't RPI-TV have the chatter for the playoff games last year? (I should just check. It is probably still out there. :) )

Yes; I think I only released it on the highlight reels from the Colgate series though.

Awesome - I seriously appreciate all the work you guys do to bring us one of the best college hockey broadcasts out there (if not the best). I'm glad to know you're planning to record and archive both feeds since I'm usually at the games and don't get the opportunity to watch until they've been archived online afterward.

Too bad we don't have a law school here and could confirm this. :p

QFT. Even if I don't get to go to the games all that much.

It looks like Board is closing threads again, so we should need a new title soon. :D

Stop with the paranoia. Despite what you think, these guys are human and make mistakes. They also have emotions that can sometimes get in the way. I would bet that they all have a coach or two they don't like, and try as you may, sometimes you can't help having your emotions color some of your decisions in anything you do.

The officiating was not good this weekend, but it was not good for both teams. Minn State was not happy either. Think about how RPI fans would feel about going west and giving up 17 or 18 power plays in two games, inclduing 11 the first night. Throw in the injuries to their palyers and the game misconduct and they are feeling like they got hosed.

The officiating is not going to get better anytime soon. Looking for conspiracies in every rink is not going to help. Voicing your frustration and displeasure at officials and opponents during games is the right of a paying fan. Abusing the officials, loudly and constantly won't help. Cheer FOR something sometimes; you'll have more fun.

You're going to have to put me on ignore (sure most of you do anyway) because I know there is bias in the league office because of the unfortunate comment made by Paul Stewart. Bryan Hicks should not only not do OOC games but not be allowed to do an RPI game after the debacle at Union. I for one would not be as critical if there were common sense measures put in place to improve officiating but there never is and will never be as long as Paul Stewart is allowed to run the league.

Voicing your opinion is one thing. Being a stuck needle is quite another. I had this discussion with Hokeydope earlier in this thread. I'm sure you would not like to be compared to Hokeydope. ;)

So that's OK, then. They can just keep making mistakes, and there are no ramifications.

They also have emotions that can sometimes get in the way. I would bet that they all have a coach or two they don't like, and try as you may, sometimes you can't help having your emotions color some of your decisions in anything you do.

That's not supposed to be the way things go.

Your analyses still suck.

Anyone else feel like the USCHO RPI preview made them dumber?
