On Saturday, Gunnery Prep defeated Williston-Northampton 5-2. Jake Wood had an assist.

Wood's line is now 4-2-3-5-x

It doesnt seem like there is much competition for Delbarton in the NJ high school league this season, even though it is early. Makes me wonder if SA will push for Melanson to leave Delbarton and play for Omaha in the USHL next season. Especially if he's planning on bringing him to RPI in 2013, if he's going to wait until 2014 then he will probably stay at Delbarton next season and then play a year in Omaha.

Would two years at Omaha make sense? Or a transfer this year if he is to come in 2013? If he's not being tested at Delbarton, it might make sense for him to up his game sooner. He's certainly got a boatload of potential.

That's how I see it. He'll play one year in the USHL -- either next year or in two years. Delbarton plays games out of NJ, e.g. last year they played in Minnesota and were defeated soundly by Shattuck.

I don't think that he will leave in the middle of the year, but anything is possible.

Of course. But for a guy on his level it's not uncommon to see it happen after a junior season, or even a sophomore season (which is obviously not the case here).

I wonder how that works from an educational standpoint. Do they hire a tutor and become "home-schooled" to finish out and get their diploma?
