Yeah, it was so hard gritting our teeth while beating Cornell. So tough to handle, that one.

Considering in the past 15 years or so how often we've beat Cornell (regardless of where the game is played), I'm in full agreement, and I know I didn't give two flips about who won a meaningless trophy.

You can jsut tell it like it is. Union backed in.

Re: RPI 2011-12 Part V: Don't Stop Believing

Considering his record pre RPI-he has really held down the penalties. He has made considerable progress and has become a valuable member of this team. I know we can get called for all sorts of penalties just by the sound of the hit or the reaction of the crowd but I love to see how the opposition players react after Curadi, or Tinordi, or Malchuk hit them. The big problem that I see in the ECAC is that often times some officials simply call penalties by reputation.

He was taking penalties in every game he played at the beginning of the season, sometimes 2. I have been glad to see him playing and develop as well. What a great man and what a great family. I'm sitting here typing and smiling at the though of him tossing that Cornell player like a rag doll. Also appreciate you comment about how the oposing players react - I'm pretty sure that the last game we got stomped at the HFH that one of the goals against came after we had the puck in the offensive end for what seemed like 3 consecutive minutes, and when hey finally got control and made it to our end that the forward looked up and saw the BRO and just shot the puck....and it went in. I'm convinced he didnt want any piece of that bad man and just thought of self preservation, and ended up with a fluke goal. Between Luke, Koudys and LeBoeuf, we really have some size that can be used in the way Luke demonstrated.

I would note that in the 1st half of the season in Dubuque, Luke was asked to play the enforcer role. Hence the PIMs. Later in the season, Monty brought in a forward with stone fists and for the most part, Luke was allowed to resume his blueline duties...with the occasional fisticuffs.

As much as I love his size and physcality (And boy do I) Luke has really impressed me with his decision making and his ability to clear pucks and make outlet passes. He seems to have that sense you need to know where to send a puck when things get hairy. He doesn't get ratttled in the paint. A kid his size is going to take penalties - any time you open up shop in the paint - its gonna happen. If he is patrolling our crease and the arm happens to go up, I will applaud him and all of ur guys loudly.

The red zone is where I want them to take their minutes, not behind the play or away from the puck. That nonsensical stuff drives me bananas.

It's not me, it's the team. You do realize that they won just their 10th game last night, right?

Yea, so? We finally see some positive signs of improvement in their play - so what if it took them all season, and you have to come in and drop a big corn-filled bowl snake into the thread. I was merely responding to that.

In the immortal words of Oddball - "Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?"

How about some insightful analysis of how RPI COULD beat Clarkson and move on to the next round? That I would find an interesting read for this thread (or the next).

So... just so we're clear, you're the positivity police? Homie don't roll that way.

The team's two games removed from having been raped by the team that finished behind them in 11th place, but I suppose that has been magically cured, right?

Sure. A giant fireball could consume Potsdam on Thursday, forcing a forfeit and allowing RPI to move forward into the next round.

It COULD happen, but you'll probably whine about it.

I like the title I suggested. RPI VI: There will be math involved. (Of course, it makes more sense if RPI was in contention for an at large bid.)

I like it as well, but like you said, we should probably keep it in the bank. This is, of course, assuming Ralph has a spreadsheet for that. :D

I don't. :) It is a good title, but I too would keep it for a better occasion. We won't be close to an at large bid this year under any circumstances.

Don't you think that RPI will be getting there by Thursday?

Thanks for the insightful commentary - I'm not espousing that anything has been magically cured with this team, nor sitting around whining on this thread - and I don't see others doing so either. If my pointing out the general malaise you bring to the table is "policing", haha, so be it. You keep rolling like that if it makes you feel good.

Re: RPI 2011-12 Part V: Don't Stop Believing

I do not want to see or hear anything about math or numbers here right now. Jenny and I spent the morning negotiating with a car dealer about a new automobile. My head is spinning from comparing all the options of buying, financing, leasing, money factor, etc, etc. I am in number withdrawal right now and the only number I want to see is a positive goal differential for RPI over Clarkson in each of 2 games this coming weekend.;)
