Re: RPI 2011-12 Part V: Don't Stop Believing

Turk almost inadvertently disclosed my well disguised identity. Since you now know my first initial... I will disclose my full name. Bond...James Bond.

As long as the J wasn't for Junk Bond-I figured you for more the triple AAA rated variety.:D Although today Moodys is saying they will be reevaluating many of their ratings and lowering some a few notches.

Hope we get to see all seniors sat night including mr assistant captain!

And Coupal. I really hope he gets to play at least 20 minutes.

EDIT: Although Kevin Beauregard didn't play senior night last year, so who knows.

Re: RPI 2011-12 Part V: Don't Stop Believing

I was surprised we didn't see Coupal at Freakout. Harkenrider got his four minutes of fame during 2009's Freakout (making one save on three shots).

Yeah, but wasn't he our only backup that game? I think Merriam started that game because York was out with a concussion...maybe he's cursed. Nothing personal, but no more Freakout! starts for Bryce.

Did anyone ask Appert about the goaltending switches he made that night? I'd be curious to hear his reasoning (other than lots of goals against).

I'm pretty sure it was a sprained ankle, but yeah, York was out for Freakout 2010. I suppose Coupal could have come in when Merriam went in the second time, but I think Appert figured there was still a (slim) chance to come back.

Ah. I knew it was something...must have gotten it confused with the concussion York sustained during the away Qpac game last year.

I thought it was interesting the comments I saw after the game about the crowd wanting Coupal to be put in when Diebold got pulled-I certainly didn't feel that way (although I would love for him to get playing time somewhere along the line). Thought if you were going to pull your second goalie, it made sense to put your starter back in after he's had time to clear his head. It's been done before.

Are you sure they didn't want Neubert? :D;)

Re: RPI 2011-12 Part V: Don't Stop Believing

Unfortunately, Coupal will likely only see time if we have a massive lead late in the third.

I agree with that too, and the chance of that are less than that for us finishing fourth. I also was surprised that he didn't play in the BRF when we were already well behind.

Joe Harkenrider gave up 2 goals on 3 shots in the 2010 Freakout. You don't throw the 3rd string in against a team trying to run up the score.

Do you think that Colgate was trying to run up the score? It seemed to me that we were just falling apart.

Edit: Probably Austin Smith was trying to pad his stats.

Re: RPI 2011-12 Part V: Don't Stop Believing

Looked that way to me.

You were there and I wasn't, so I will go along with your evaluation. It still would be nice for Coupal to have gotten some playing time, and I doubt that the opportunity will arise the rest of the season.
