Re: RPI 2011 - 12 Part IV: We ain't Bailen on this season yet, Go Red!!

As Jenny and I head out for New Years eve-we just want to take this opportunity to wish all of those who post here and especially those that we have met- a Happy and Healthy New Year. We also hope that with the New year begins a new season for our beloved hockey team. Let's Go Red!! and a happy 2012 to all.

Best wishes to all! And Doc, save those vodka gimlets (or are those rum gimlets?) for our scoring plays! Either way, I expect things to open up in 2012 and wouldn't want you to run dry during the stretch run...

I wonder how much of the problem lies with the assistant coaches?

You know what FF, I agree. And I wonder how much of the problem we can attribute to Chris the trainer and Dana the equipment manager? As a matter of fact, I wonder how much accountability Shirley has......not to mention drum beater Knowles? Shoot, I didn't like my pretzel last visit to HFH, I think there's a problem there too!!!!

as I said earlier, attributing blame is a loser's game.

Winners don't care about blame they take responsibility.

Don't worry about him, he's upset because he didn't think of it first, that's all. Whiners gonna whine in his case.

You do realize that "backed in" implies that they had to do pretty **** well earlier in the season to even be in a position to make playoffs, right? I can't be sure, but I think Appert was coaching during that entire time....and Pirri and D'Amigo had already bolted.

This season sucks...the upperclassmen have not shown the leadership they needed to, and too much is being expected of the incoming class. It's a major test for Appert, and we are seeing him struggle with a difficult situation...but grow up, seriously. Bad seasons happen, and I refuse to cast down judgement on Appert until I see consistent bad seasons. This is his first head coaching gig, and there are going to be growing pains.

Ad nauseam
he coached terribly at the end of the season last year. Look at his record in Feb. He Lost to Brown in the playoffs the year before! At home. Brown for pete's sake! Who the hell looses to Brown!
He had York, D'Amingo and Pirri (legit NHL guys) and accomplished nothing. They even eased up on the recruiting after Fridgen left to help him out.
I don't believe any Engineer coach has had a run like this. It is awful. Then he gets rid of the Holiday tourney.
"I am going to come in and run and up tempo game and score a lot of goals" da who said that! Now he is staying up late at night trying to learn the left wing lock so he can pass it on to his players.

Honestly, I don't know what you are talking about.
We got to the NCAA tournament last year without Pirri or D'Amigo. That is when I stopped using them as an excuse.
I am not crazy about the teams play this year, but he is still the same coach that got us to the tournament last season with a team that was diminshed by the exodus of our two best offensive players.
He did something right.
Lets see how the rest of the season pans out before we feed him to the wolves.

Honestly, I don't know what you are talking about.

Neither does he. He thinks we had a guy named "D'Amingo."

Beman is just a lame old codger who is way too attached to the past. You know, the glory years when we were the middle of the pack every single season. You know, nothing ventured, nothing gained, no problems.

Happy Birthday to our own Ralph Baer. Ralph, thanks for all you put into the threads (especially recruit thread). You the man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: RPI 2011 - 12 Part IV: We ain't Bailen on this season yet, Go Red!!

Remember that Appert said Polacek made Jda and Pirri better, not the other way around. I think we may be seeing how important Polacek, York and even Hefrich were both on and off the ice. This senior class pales in comparison in many ways.

Re: RPI 2011 - 12 Part IV: We ain't Bailen on this season yet, Go Red!!

It is troubling how RPI has faded late in the year under Appert. They are 5-11 in postseason play and 5-10 in ECAC playoffs.
The combined record in their final 10 regular season games under Appert is 13-32-4. That's fewer than 3 wins per year in their final 10 games.

Those numbers only add up to 49. ;)
