That hotel is booked. If I go, I will certainly post it here. I will probably also attend one of the women's games.

Park your car in North Lot and sleep in the back seat. For Wi-Fi, drive down to the McDonald's in Brunswick. :D:p

If it was gonna come down to parked car in North Lot or a sleeping bag at the Notty Pine, I have a spare bedroom and a futon that Ralph could have for a reasonable rate. :p

BTW, it's family weekend (whatever that is), so you were close before.

Hi Ralph , I always stay at the Stay Inn in Latham , it was a Hampton Inn and is now called Stay Inn . It has free hot breakfast and free high speed wireless internet . It is very clean and only minutes to campus . I will be staying there for family weekend . If you have AAA it is only 63.20 , or 79.00 without AAA . Here is the link .

I have been thinking for a while about going to Troy for the Colorado College games in two weeks. For those who know my past history, it is probably still only about a 1 of 4 chance I will go, so you don't have to make plans to be out of town yet. :D

Does anyone have any recommendations about hotels/motels? The Hilton Garden Inn is booked. The only place that I have ever stayed in Troy is the Holiday Inn/Best Western which I know is a dorm now. (That isn't exactly true, when I visited RPI in the summer of 1963, I stayed in some dump in Albany with my mother.) Of course, WiFi access is crucial. :D

I assume that tickets won't be a problem.

If you prefer not to post here, you can email me through USCHO.

And a note to RC, I do remember that I owe you a beer for the JL bet.

Re: RPI 2011-12 Part II: We Like to Post!

There are a bunch of places to stay in Latham which would probably be your best bet to stay close to Troy without spending an arm and a leg. I've heard decent reviews of Cocca's and the Holiday Inn Express but of course neither are anything to write home about. My roommate's mom always stayed at the Century House when she visited but I think that's quite pricey.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Latham for graduation and it was a convenient drive to Troy.

My parents stayed here for graduation. They didn't have any complaints (or at least, didn't say anything to me).

I'll be up for the Saturday game and might show up for the Friday game if I take a half-day from work. I would appreciate meeting more members of the board.

Also, Ralph, you might want to leave soon if you want to make it to Troy by the 28th. I've heard that it's a long ways to bike. ;)

I just made airline reservations. (The price triples if not done 2 weeks in advance.) I made reservations at the Stay Inn. (They went up a couple of bucks from what Interested posted.) I also called the HFH. (Tickets are going fast, or so they say.)

The last time we sold out a game without "Big Red Freakout" attached was Family weekend in 2006 when we played BU. I can't say I'm surprised if tickets are going fast. Although they probably mean the good seats.

Wow that is awsome news Ralph ! I look forward to meeting you ! Now if you can only convince Doc , as i am sure everyone here would love to meet the two of you ! it is not cheap to fly anymore , 4 years ago it was around 450.00 and now it is over 1000.00 , flying from Canada that is . I wish i could make it there more often , but the finances just don't allow it :) Here's to family weekend !

Re: RPI 2011-12 Part II: We Like to Post!

Now if we can only get Dr. D to take up this fantastic opportunity , then we could have a reunion ! What do you think Doc ?

Funny, but we have been tossing around the idea of coming up for a weekend and the CC weekend was one of the possible ones. I sort of like the idea of bunking at the Knotty Pine but Jenny finds that abhorent. If we do make plans we will also post them here. We haven't been up in some time and will also be looking for local lodging. We used to stay up at our home in the Adirondacks but the ride is just too far with the increase in traffic.

Re: RPI 2011-12 Part II: We Like to Post!

Now that we know Ralph is coming, we should probably get started planning a tailgate.

Also, family weekend is probably a bigger draw to campus in recent years than reunion. Definitely better to get tickets ASAP then.

I think that they wanted me to make a decision. The tickets are a very small part of the total cost when you aren't local.

Ralph , did you book through the phone or the internet , the internet rate is cheaper then the phone in rate for some reason ?

The round trip flights including taxes were $279.40. That's less than it costs me on the shuttle to NYC which has become a complete ripoff. I checked what it would cost if I booked only a week in advance by entering next weekend's dates, and I think it jumped to about $800.

Actually it would be even cheaper if I was willing to drive to Baltimore and fly Southwes.t I did it twice when I went to our tourney a few years ago, and it was a lot of hassle.
