Well, Ralph, in this case we're obviously not counting major junior.

I didn't realize that you were involved in the discussion. :p

The answer is probably never. Some USHL teams probably have been close.

Well he does have the kind of size I like-and it appears he is not afraid to use it.;)

He will be an awesome college player...and possibly beyond...I don't know what his plans are nor who has plans for him...I will attempt to find out...;)

Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

You're correct since Cross is averaging more points per game and not all opponents are as week as Hawkesbury. The ironic thing is that Cross is the player who was traded to Pembroke by Cornwall to get JL.
Took this quote from RB from the previous recruit thread. Found this article on the CJHL webpage from Feb.5th, regarding the trade between JL and Cross:

http://centraljuniorhockeyleague.ca/view/CJHL/news-110/news_10214

I find it interesting with the season Cross is having he's only gotten interest from a "handful" of NCAA teams. If RPI wasnt already overloaded at forward next year, I would think they would be interested in him.

Interesting. I thought even before the trade that Cross would've had a lot of suitors. What the reporter apparently didn't ask, or didn't report was what possible holes are there in Cross's game that might be making coaches wary. There are plenty of D1 coaches who drink a lot of bad coffee watching that league. Something is preventing a lot of them from taking a run at the kid. I do think we'll see him land in D1 -- hopefully not in the ECAC. :D

Also interesting was Keefe's comments on JL having "basically quit" on Pembroke...obvious bad blood there. If you ask me, its a pretty classless thing for a Jr. coach to do -- throwing a kid under the bus publicly like that...whatever the truth. All it does is make the coach look petty, throwing mud on a kid's reputation.

Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

WS,

That was my thought also, that Cross probably has a weakness that is much more likely to show up on the D-I level than in the CJHL. Also, conceivably, he does not make it academically.

Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

On Tuesday, the Penticton Vees defeated the Trail Smoke Eaters 6-5. Luke Curadi had no points or penalties. http://www.bchl.ca/leagues/hockey_boxScores.cfm?clientID=1413&leagueID=2393&gameID=712966

Curadi's line is now 52-6-10-16-92.

The Vees head to Vernon on Fri. night for a 1 vs. 2 showdown, after which the banged-up Vees will be home for their final 5. The Vipers hold a 2 pt. lead with 2 head-to-head games remaining. Conference winner gets a bye.

Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

OK, let the speculation commence -- is he hurt or has he been benched?

Orangeville dressed six skaters, according to the boxscore, designated as "new player". It sounds to me that the flu may be going around the team. Just a guess, of course.

Who knows... the Crusher's website is useless as is the local media coverage..or lack thereof. :p
