Looks like there's a reference to you, Ralph... "counting the days" ;)

That did cross my mind. :D

Coach is definitely right in that defense is a big question. Not only as a team, but individuals contributing towards a team. Last year, individual mistakes is what really cost us. With more maturity, I fully expect all of the players to have a more disciplined game and make the right choices given the various own zone situations.

Also, we should be more aggressive, but let's also make sure it's clean. I'm not going to go on a tirade about the refs because you've heard enough from me about that in the past, but if we keep moving the feet and timing the hits, we should be just fine. Penalties are going to happen, let's just make sure it isn't for anything stupid.

Since we will need a new thread soon whether or not we close this thread, I might as well ask for suggestions. I recall two earlier suggestions

One was "RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift".

The other was simply to use "RPI 2010-11" without a secondary title.

Any other suggestions? (This might help close the thread. :D )

"Chipped Off" - Reasons
1. Appert hopes that the players take the snub in the national poll personally
and play with a chip on their shoulder.
2. He is looking for the team to play an aggressive, fast-paced game all over the ice and force mistakes by the opponent.

We could always compromise. Some of us like the "corny" thread titles, and some don't. We don't include them for the alumni and women's threads, and I guess we have also started not putting them in for the recruit threads. Also, the score threads won't have it, and neither will the weekend. We still have one left where we can show our creative sides. I would think keep it here, but leave it out everywhere else.

Just a quick WaP update for the RPI crowd.

Our 2010-11 season preview published last week, breaking down the Engineers and the upcoming season.

We also took a peek at the ECAC via my media poll ballot in yesterday's update.

This week's podcast features UNB color commentator David Kilfoil - we'll ask him about the Varsity Reds and what to expect in the upcoming exhibition - and Gopher Puck Live and USCHO.com contributor Arlan Marttila, who'll discuss western women's hockey. Tune in live at 8pm tomorrow night!

Last night was the first night of intramural hockey and it is noticeably brighter when you're playing on the ice on the ice. :D

For your team, it may have been the first game. Intramural games have been going on up there since last week Monday (the 20th). First night with all the new lights up in the rafters? Yeah, I'll buy that.

Way back in the early 60's they used to purposely keep in a bit darker over the ice when a really good goaltender was playing against us-one of many little things that were done to affect play. :)
