jordan watts is also gone. opening up the pk unit to someone else. probly one of the frosh.

Maybe Justin Smith will get a role there? I almost also want to think maybe Joel Malchuk, or a short-handed playmaker like AAG.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

Rumor has it, it's actually possible to take pictures inside now without the need for a flash or the overhead lights on. But hey, I guess that's what nice big front windows can do for the place.

Great job with the pics JC...those windows are nice! Looks like we're getting the old scoreboard back.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

Went to the Valleycats baseball game tonight. Got there right at the end of opening ceremonies. But most of the RPI team was there lined up along the third base line. Was in line with a few of our players old enough to enjoy the 2 for 1 beer night tonight. :D Good to see they took a night off to enjoy some baseball and get everyone in the Capital Region ready for hockey season.

Uggh, forgot all about it or I would have gone over....:D

Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

I was thinking about "RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread VI: Adios D'Amigo," but it would probably earn me a facepalm or three. :D

Not only that, you'd be fired from starting threads, with cause.

We filed that one under "iffy source" after GLM told us about Damien Cox's proclivity for regurgitating stuff that others have written. Which was definitely accurate, as he didn't say anything new in that article other than to make it sound like it was already done.

Today should be the day, though, and I do expect a deal to get done. Jerry has an outside shot at a top-six position, a good shot at making the Leafs, and I'll eat my hat if he doesn't at least make the Marlies.

I heard that the ceiling paint job really brightened up the barn. From your photo it looks like the old scoreboard is back, although rumoers persist that it is goig to be replaced.

He scares me, and you really can't trust him. This appears to be a very good article; well researched; thoughtful relevant quotes. Then you see the correction below it and wonder. He takes a random comment from who knows where and attributes it to Appert. We’ve all made mistakes; but that it certainly a whopper.

It really has; even the seats have a glow to them that wasn't realized, and they weren't even painted (based upon what was said here)!

The window seems to provide an "advantage", as it were, given which way we face in the 1st and 3rd periods, during the day games. Also incentive to not go to overtime with the new rule. :D However, why do I have this feeling that America's Pep Band might be wearing sunglasses during the games, ESPECIALLY given which direction the building faces?

We don't necessarily know that it was Ed who wrote that original "quote." The article referenced is written by the "sports staff" at The Record.

Despite the scoreboard being on the ground in those photos, I'm still of firm belief that there will be a new scoreboard going up in its place this offseason. The person I spoke with said that the old board was in place to allow for doing a mock-up of the new scoreboard.

Ken Schott mentioned on Twitter that Jerry had told Kevin Beattie that the Waterloo Record never talked to him on Monday. So one does wonder where the supposed quotes they have about him "from the Finger Lakes" came from, especially, in that light the "I'd only sign to play for the Maple Leafs" quote.

Appert did tell Schott that Jerry wasn't interested in leaving and ending up in the OHL, though.

There's been an awful lot of innuendo here. But Jim Hughes' comments in that piece are fairly interesting. They're non-committal while praising RPI quite a bit.

I don't have any idea about the depth chart (or lack thereof) in Toronto, but certainly agree that he can play in the AHL...although the grind and physical battering of 80 games is a stiff test for any young player.

I agree - I really can't see him jumping ship to play in the O...which may be what the hold up is in the deal.

Hicks did mention Owasco lake, so he went to elaborate lengths if he was telling a fairytale. To be fair, its the SIDs goal in life to keep a lid on any information or scoops, unless their office generates it. "Control Freak" is synonymous with the SID job title. Its not surprising that Kevin might try to poo-poo the article. Who knows.

Its always possible that Hicks spoke to the parents and used "license" to say he talked to Jerry.

Thankfully the Men don't play day games...4PM starts are as close as they come and by that time of year, the sun is low in the sky.

Just to clarify. Jordan is off the team? Leaving over playing time? anymore info would be great. Thanks in advance.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

RB, NOOOOO! We must RUN from that reference...all I've got in my head now is a reference to the 'Three Amigos' and I DO NOT want that to cross reference WS's tags: "All 5...err...4...uhhhh 3 of us are returning"...let's just wish JDA well and not jinx anything...after all, someone might be reading what you write:eek: :p

Oh boy, 2nd time in a month I've run afoul of Babo. I'm off to change my signature now...I'll revert to an old favorite until some inspiration for a new one strikes me. :D

Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

Thanks JC, is it me or do the seats look brighter? probably just the lighting however....and wasnt there a rumor of a possible new scoreboard?..... not that the one we have is too shabby. I personally like the new windows.

I'm seeing the brighter seats in my photos, as well. Not sure if it's the lighting or if I still had the "vivid" color enhancement set on my camera from previous photography.

The new windows will add a new dimension to day games at the fieldhouse. Though they will have curtains up, as well, to keep the sunlight from melting the ice (or at least so I've been told by the person I spoke with at the HFH).
